I'd like to get into running purely because of the outfits (and health benefits) but as a bigger bloke even thinking about running makes my knees crumble and leaves me gasping for breathe

Build up the mileage slowly and don’t try and go too fast too soon and you’ll be just fine.

I started at 115kg - now 80kg and still loving it, it is so addictive.

I'm starting to feel utter dog shit again as well 😫😫😫

Can’t be making excuses now mate, if I’m going to die aiming for the 1:40 I’m not doing it alone.

Ran 1:34:25 which is a PB but wanted really to be closer to a 1:30. Awful week health wise this week so Im still happy with it. Got cramp in the final 3K which put paid to any sort of fast finish. New Walk finish really is sadistic.

I was in a whole world of pain going up there, it’s as bad as it gets. That’s still a crazily good time mate, congrats on the PB.

Well…. I’ve had a bad cold and been unable to run for 16 days…

it was never about a time for me and I felt I’d banked my 3 months of training

Was feeling great clicking of the KM’s until just before Abbey Park and then it became a bit of a grind…. On my previous long runs I’d always had my fastest splits at the end,  but I guess the cold hangover bit a little…. It’s much nicer to finish with something in the tank!

it was a great event and lots of encouragement even for the stragglers!

well done to everyone who did it..

Sounds like it’s been a tough few weeks so well done for getting it done mate.
