Common thing called Runners Flu. By stretching yourself hard in training, your immune system gets weaker.

As it stands now I’d get the rest, shake off at the weekend. You’d be on a natural taper anyway.

Depends how ill I guess.

I rarely miss a day's running through illness and I haven't done myself any harm yet that I'm aware of!

I am sort of sensible and always run very easy if I'm under the weather though - No chance I'd be doing an all-out HM!

I'm the same mate. Got Leicester Half on 26th and have been in bed since Saturday. This happened to me in February and I ended up not being able to run one of my races but did one two weeks after and was OK. So fingers crossed by next week we'll both be sound. You won't lose much fitness but a shake out run will be needed to get back in to it.

Thanks all! Reassuring definitely. Will be doing a short run tomorrow morning to set me right for a meeting I have scheduled but will try and rest too.

I am not worried about distance but hopefully I’ll be recovered enough to push myself- otherwise I’ll be zone 2ing across the course(not a bad thing given it’s in the Peak District).

Got myself to a physio yesterday and I think my knee has started to ease off a bit. She wasn’t overly concerned but gave me a few exercises and showed me how to strap my knee up to minimise the impact which should help.

My new trainers arrived yesterday as well so I went out for what I was thinking would be a steady 5k but did alright.

Also had my race number for next week and it says “senior male” on it which is a little bit brutal considering I’m not 40 yet 😂

Going to see the physio days before the run too mate? Good though that it looks more positive

Unlucky on the race number though 😂 I'm not too far behind you on that I guess!

I don’t plan to because I’m travelling the day before it and the taping will probably only last 24 hours.

I’m doing a 10 miler tomorrow and will try to strap it up so hopefully I’ll be sorted as I’ve had no major ill effects after running twice in 2 days.

10 miler done. Other than the usual mental battle of 5k in telling myself there is no point as I’ll never manage a full marathon, I really enjoyed it.

These new trainers feel really quick. I think I’ll be aiming for 5m30 KMs next week if I can hang on but today I was pretty easily doing 5ms and having to focus on slowing myself down.

FT's injury list at the moment stacking up.

It's the part I ****ing hate about running etc. You work hard, get into some consistency. Body says no - injury or illness.

Was properly down in the dumps Sunday, felt like everyone I knew was running either the Bournemouth half or the Royal Parks half.

Hoping to get back out there in November, that would have been 8 weeks since I injured myself.

 Crazy time there mate.

Iv never used the Novablasts but I bought Superblasts because everyone raved about them, and they’ve just brought out Megablasts which are meant to be even quicker. Both expensive at £200 a pop but I’ve done about 400 miles in mine and they are still alright.

Debut of the novoblasts yesterday, replaced 15 year old ASICS.

I feel like a chav wearing them but it's dark anyway. Very good recommendation.

Signed up for Silverstone Run Fest. Giving the 10k a go. Quote pricy I thought, about £50. Should be fun though - aiming for 50-55 mins.

I hope they've learnt their lessons from last year. Was a disaster supposedly.

Its the silly massive foamy soles. They look dreadful.

Comfy though.

Generally expensive running shoes look mental, look at these new ones Nike have brought out.

Seen those at the precinct in blaby worn by kids with 'cold faces' and a concern for airborne disease.

I HATE that New Walk hill at the end!!

I volunteered last year at a car park but got bored after a couple of hours and ended up litter picking at Vucky Park but just wandered around!!

Thanks to all the Marshall's and volunteers :appl:
