Doesn’t speak well of getting the planning for the new stand any time soon

What's planning permission got to do with this game. They have said it wont affect games.

Which is my point. Playing an unscheduled game effectively takes away two weeks of the summer that the stadium extension could be occurring. The main bulk of the intrusive construction works will occur in the summer.

At the very least this summer, we should be starting preliminary works, the underground stuff, begin setting up the building site and start introducing the routes around the stadium, so the stadium can function when the season is on (just like Liverpool's Anfield Road Stand at the moment).

This weekend it was bus replacement from Coleshill Parkway to New Street. Had the unfortunate pleasure of doing it. The same is occurring for Everton and Southampton at home.

HS2 works are occurring at the line between Bham New St and Water Orton hence the bus replacements

I edited my post to reflect this!  Just checked on the train for Everton on Sunday which is rail replacement to Nuneaton.  I'm Solihull so will drive to Nuneaton.  HS2 is already nailing my trail running routes, now trains too.  Groan:(

We don't have planning permission yet. We have permission to start the ground works and demolition but it's an all or nothing plan by the club.

We also need a company to be able to start work once permission is given. As big as we think the club is major  construction companies are not going to be sitting round waiting for our job.

We'll be lucky if anything gets started this year even if permission is given.

So I would not worry about one game that may or may not happen.

It won't cause any delay if it would I'm sure the club would have turned this down flat with obvious reasons.

Exactly. It suggests we don’t expect the planning permission to be approved any time soon which was exactly what my first post said.

My last post was illustrating the original plan if we had planning approved for March.

Maybe this is the future. A bit like euro vision. If you win it you get to host it next time lol

It would be, but it would mean you would have direct competition with the women's final in London, and if England aren't in the final, then you have a good chance for the Community Shield having a higher attendance, which isn't good graphics for the women's game. They probably want it out of the capital for that reason (with the added bonus that our capacity means that probably won't have a Daily Mail headline of 'Glorified friendly has higher attendance than most important women's game in years")

That isnt going to happen given that the final sold out some weeks ago.  Just for info England's 3 group games have sold out as well including the opener at Old Trafford.

"All 87,200 tickets have been sold for the final at Wembley on July 31, which will break the attendance record for a women's football game in England"

Hopefully we franchise it. No point fighting the steady progression of Americanisation.

Franchise it. Ring fence tradition. Make it finance driven. **** it; no point in fighting it.
