never understood why they don't move it a bit earlier and have it in the states seeing as they had such a hard on for playing a regular season game over there.

Because it’s a fixture as part of the English league and supporters who live in the towns and cities of the teams contesting the trophy deserve to be able to go and watch it with minimal cost and effort.

Though to be fair... for many (i assume) it was about a chance to see your team at Wembley the charity shield was often the only way to get there.

Hopefully a permanent transfer rather than a loan.

5 minutes into the game there will be a "Charity OUT!" thread started :)

I enjoyed my day out to Wembley though 🤷 and I'm sure a lot of others did too

Since 2000 there's been 4 occasions where sides outside of the big 6 have been involved and 2 of those were us.

Additionally it's highly likely if your club does reach it you'll have made it via the FA cup so you would have had the chance to be at Wembley a few months prior. Or even keep it at Wembley and have a draw to decide who plays at home in the reverse league fixture.

Seems weird on the face of things but given the fairly recent England friendly, and now this, I wonder if the FA are having a good look at us ready for using the expanded stadium in the Euros they want to (jointly) host.

Gonna be because of the fuss made of the FA Cup semi-final with Mancs & Scousers having to travel all the way down to London, and we're right in the middle of England. So it might depend on how the compositions finish, if Chelsea win the FA Cup you'd have North v South in the Midlands.

Also implies were at a good understanding with The FA, considering this news and the England fixture hosted back in September '18. Be nice if the Club made further connections with the association where possible. Our ambition for Seagrave is to find and nurture world class talent; knowing exactly what they're looking for could help.

True, and I agree. However this does appear to be a one off.

The ideal candidate would be villa Park. But apparently within the FA it is seen as falling down, the media and hospitality don't fit with modern day expectations.

If villa stick around in the top flight for a while they need a rebuild. If we get our expansion sorted and that lot up the road ever get there plans off the ground. Both with be the front runners for any games in the Midlands for a tournament bids due to.the more modern facilities.

Villa Park was due to hold the Foo Fighters this summer and had scheduled its pitch work around this. That gig is now cancelled but the schedule remains for the pitch.

The biggest problem for Villa Park is whilst there are two train stations nearby, they don’t run enough of them and the area around the ground is awful

I remember going into Villa hospitality a few years ago and they still had the old box TVs
