Armenia beat the Republic of Ireland earlier. There was a time when the Irish were usually there or thereabouts in the qualifiers, but now they're miles off it. Quiet decline.

I read the BBC run a poll asking if this is the worst defeat in their history. I'm not an expert on Irish football history however this current team are rubbish, and I imagine they think Armenia are on par with San Marino/Liechtenstein etc. They're absolutely not and I imagine it's a fairly hostile place to go as well as being long distance, I'm not at all surprised they lost. Surprised Ireland were even 1/2 to win

Sad thing is theyve actually got a stronger league now and a lot of their younger players play wider across Europe

Austrians having a good trip to Sarajevo for once

Home side can't make their shots count this time, then?

After a comfortable win in Romania, we follow it up with a 1-0 win in Swansea.

Maybe not exactly European giants, but it's a good sign for us in the build up to us co-hosting the World Cup.

Rashford isn't good enough for this England side any more.

Seems like his issue is often a lack of confidence and/or loss of motivation; which is a shame, as he did have a decent spell at Man Utd before it went pear-shaped towards the end.

How did our new lad get on? Saw that he was subbed off after 62 mins. Hopefully not an injury?

Was passing the ball well and set up a decent scoring chance. I'd say he was one of the better players on the Welsh side.

Wasn't an injury, I don't think.

There’s a non zero chance you do better than the USA. I would expect Mexico to go furthest out of the host countries though.

Probably depends a lot on the groups.

As long as we do better than we did last WC, I'll be happy.

We are winning it all!

2-1 win over england.  You heard it hear first....and last lol

CANADA BABY!

I'd likely cry if England played Canada at any point in the tournament. Would be so hard to pick a side. One team of mine I've always wanted to see win the world cup is England.

Never thought that I'd ever see Canada make the world cup but we did that last time. Need to get a  win this time around at least!

Bolivia will be in a play off after beating Brazil 1/0 to come 7th in South America.

Wouldn’t fancy anyone going there and getting a result with the atmosphere literally leaving players short on breath !

EDIT: Maybe not as apparently the play offs are at neutral venues ?

Mexico

Was reading how Moldova with a qualifying record of 0-0-5 and losing 11-1 yesterday are near certain to get a qualification playoff spot after winning League D of Nations League!

Bizarre team. They were very much in the mix to qualify for Euro 24 conceding just 10 in 8 games and taking 4 points off Poland.
