Why are we no longer signing players from the championship / lower leagues? Do we think we’re above that level now or something? We’ve missed out on so many fantastic talents from that league recently. As usual there will be a new wave of talents in the championship this year and I hope we’re scouting them.

Josh Bowler is right there for 4m ffs.

If his that cheap, why isn't there a queue for his services.

True. Only Bournemouth, Forest and Fulham have been linked recently and that could just be paper talk.

But if we’re struggling for a right winger why not take a gamble on him for 4m

I'm all for signing younger talent from Championship, but where is the proof Bowler is only £4m?

Have any clubs actually bid for him?

His end product isn't quite there yet but he looks as though he's getting there. There's a perception that players in the Championship mustt be there for a reason but it's probably on par with the bottom 8 of the other top 5 leagues quality wise.

I guess the logical answer to this is, there’s 24 teams in the Championship, and thousands elsewhere

People are sceptical too, if I’m a championship club and a Premier League team wants a player, I’m charging double because I know they have the money.

We have got one of last seasons best championship goalkeepers but Brendan don't play him so obviously thinks we're above all that fodder.

Preston kept 6 Cleansheets in 6 this season, maybe it wasn’t all Iversen 🤷‍♂️

five nil nils in the first 6 games and 6 clean sheets is ridiculous! If only we could manage 1!

Quality consistent Championship players cost at least £10m+ nowadays. Bowen, Maddison, Benrahma all went for a lot.

This. Its definitely not the cheapest market and never has been. There's talent there but its never been a bargain basement really.

I'd take him at the drop of a hat for 4m, but I think they want more then that.

I mean Bowen, Eze, Olise, Benrahma and Bellingham all walk straight in to our starting 11 off the top of my head and James Maddison is now probably the best player at our club, so.

Definitely some talent there.

Also no issues about them settling in the country like Soumare, which is a bonus.

It isn't but when you have a few fallbacks; wages are less, if it a failure it's a bit more easier to cut your losses, if its a success you will make your money back. If you are assessing risk, it's a lot lower

Maddison cost us £20+ million four years ago. You're talking about serious cash nowadays for players who are good enough to make the step up.

Keane Lewis Potter cost Brentford a decent sum. You're not getting a talented championship player for anything under £15m these days. The clubs know what theyre worth.

Some good points made actually.

With Josh Bowler & Chris Willock both out of contract next summer, you would hope you could get them for a lower price.

Keane Lewis-Potter though was also out of contract next summer, Brentford still ended up paying £17 million for him.

Jarrod Bowen was out of contract in the summer of 2020, despite that, West Ham paid over £20 million for him in the 2020 January transfer window.

For Bowler & Willock, I guess it would all depend on the financial situations at Blackpool & QPR, would some cash come in handy or would they play hard ball to the point where you’d have to spend £15-20 million 🤔
