I don't get how people can't see this. The finances of it are probably covered. We're not relegated yet. It makes sense to expand.

More than likely by a loan that would be secured against future revenues, just like how the training ground was financed. Revenues we wouldn't get if we were to go down.

With the way the club has been run in the past 2 years I highly doubt relegation would have entered their thinking. Even now there's a lax attitude and a belief that we are 'too big and too good' to go down.

Also if we get in the championship I reckon we will struggle to get back up.

This is why the club have to act and stop sitting on their hands, show some 'cojones'.  You can't develop a stadium and then go down, lightning doesn't strike twice, ask Roy Sullivan.

Expansion should of happened after we won the league.

Exactly with the mass exodus of out of contract players due in the summer as well as bigger clubs picking up our other remaining assets we'll have a huge rebuild on our hands. This would be severely hamstrung if we were to press ahead with a Stadium Expansion as we'll have to find the money for both. (Spoiler - We don't have the money for both).

With the stadium expansion set to happen. I was curious if we keep playing the way we have been playing will a stadium expansion be worth it even if we are in the championship? Like teams such as Hull have not used their upper tier seating for years could that happen to us?

Thanks Mr Magoo

Why don’t we? The money for this is secured against future earnings - that would include parachute payments.

So that’s the stadium covered.

If we were to go down, and big clubs came in for our best players, say we lost Barnes, Maddison and Ndidi - that’s probably £150 million worth of players we could sign for a Championship club. As well as having more than adequate players such as Justin, Daka, Iversen etc.

Scrapping this is a ridiculously short sighted thought. One of the main reasons we’re in this mess is a lack of revenue. At some points you have to outlay some money, and maybe take a step backward to move forward.
Having a bigger stadium will lead to more money coming in, better sponsorship deals, being more attractive to players as well as other commercial opportunities for the club.

With a lot of empty seats.

Jeez we really do wanna be beta-Man City don’t we.

We wouldn't get 150 million for our players when we've been relegated, we wouldn't be in a position to bargain. With our finances and how much we've been losing it would be a take what we can get scenario.

No club in their right mind would secure a huge loan against parachute payments especially one that's lost 120 million or so in the past year. We'd immediately have to go into survival mode and things could get bad very quickly. People need to wake up and see the bigger picture, there are lots of moving parts and the foundations in which they are held together are not very steady at the moment.

Relegation would be a calamity and postponing such a huge financial decision whilst our Premier League status is under threat wouldn't be the worst decision in the world.

Those of you who don’t want this to happen for whatever strange reason you have really need to let it go, it’s happening.

Yeah too late. Anyone know when construction will start?

People just want shiny new things. A stadium expansion and a complex around the stadium would be nice but you aren't going to attract the level of casual fans needed to make money playing in the Championship.

It will be funded by King Power like the training ground was or more likely funds secured via external investment. The loans from Macquarie bank against future earnings are to aid cash flow and are effectively just a way of bringing forward when the club receives the bulk of our revenue, which will already be allocated to cover the clubs operating costs - the EPL TV and prize money barely covers our wage bill. There's no way a club struggling to break even would fund a 200 mill + capital project without bringing in additional investment.

Do you not think the plans were made before covid and it is maybe too late to pull out for KP now.

Surely we would be more likely to attract players if we had a bigger stadium and fancy infrastructure?

Same thing was said about the new training ground and it simply hasn't happened. Instead we've seen Kasper and Fofana push through moves, and the likes of Tielemans, Soyuncu and Maddison running down their contracts.

Okay so you want to spunk millions of pounds on building infrastructure that isn't going to get used when we are in the Championship? Do you remember the attendances the last time we were doing bad? We struggled to get 20k. Even now some home games are short 2-3k which is unheard of in recent years.

I'd rather the money went on getting the playing squad into a position to get us back into the League.

There are 700 tickets available for the Palace game, hardly 2-3k.

The game is televised and it's the start of half term so hardly a surprise that there are tickets available.
