Now for this thing. ****ing hell don't you love them hosting an FA Cup semi final at wembley at the same time as a load of premier league matches? Game's gone.

Should Man Utd win this afternoon why not play the Final in Manchester over two legs, one at the Eithad and one at Old Trafford and the winner, on aggregate, lifts the trophy.

This would safe an awful lot travelling to London and back in these times of great austerity.

So you want to change the structure of the competition that had a single game final for over 100 years and make it 2 legged, whilst that competition is ongoing?

Semis shouldn't be at Wembley but the final definitely should be. It's the showcase game of the English league season.

No, only for this season should the two Manchester clubs reach the Final. We are continually told about the cost of living etc. so why not make it easier for supporters?

I agree with the semi-finals, they should not have been moved to Wembley.

So even worse, just for one season you want to change it, and still mid competition? A competition that for over 100 years has had a one game shootout to win it, or a reply should that game be drawn, at a neutral venue.

Would you have wanted our game moved from Wembley when we won it? Winning a Wembley final is special, its the pinnacle of English football. The reason the semis shouldn't be at Wembley is for that very reason. I hated Spurs using it for league games, it's shouldn't be cheapened like that.

Sometimes doing things the way we always have just because we've always done it that way is stupid, but sometimes doing things the way we've always done them is what makes them things special. The FA Cup final at  Wembley as a single game, as it has been for about 100 years now is one of those things.

You are missing my central point. I'm only suggesting this for ONE season should both Manchester clubs get to the Final.

Why would I have moved our game from Wembley? That has nothing to do with what I have said.

So you're suggesting fans pay out on two games rather than a coach ticket to to London for the same price?

I'm not missing the point at all. I'm saying we shouldn't change it for one season regardless.

I asked about our game, not because it might have been moved but to point out the magic of winning the FA Cup at Wembley. Would you have wanted it moved from there and not had that happen, should it have fallen under your criteria?

You can't just change the structure of a competition to suit. If the World Cup was in France and it had a Brazil v Argentina final, would you move it to Chile? So every competition is changeable, not just the final venue, but the whole structure of the final depending on who gets to said final? It's nonsense.

Where would they play it ?

Obviously  not in Manchester and the authorities wouldn’t want 2 clubs going to Liverpool.

Anywhere else is too small ?

He wants 2 legs, I assume one at Old Trafford and one at the Etihad.

So you want people to save money on the travel to London, but have people pay for 2 games' worth lol

Bit contradictory, no?

The Champions League Cup Final 2019 was Liverpool against Spurs played in Madrid. How bonkers was that? Imo, both FA Cup semis and the final should be played at whichever large neutral football stadiums are closest to those of the clubs involved. Why should London always get these fixtures?

I'm afraid you have missed my point as you have just illustrated again.

There are certain pubs/bars down here that rake it in on a Wembley weekend. Loads of Brighton fans around today, obviously it's not every season they get to the FA cup semi-final. Not saying it's right, but if you move the ties back to the Villa/Sheffield/Manchester venues those pubs may well close.

Not at all. With a bit of forethought by the FA they could agree to a reduced pricing structure because of the two-legged nature of the proposal.

It could easily be achieved. As it is the Man City fans are already having to pay for two trips to London.

As I say it is ONLY for this year on the proviso of both Manchester clubs reaching the Final.

Really haven't. Because this won't be the last them this happens in various competitions, so are you gonna start switching venues and 1 or 2 legs depending on finalists? Like I say total nonsense.

Only this year, until it happens again, or it's Liverpool v Everton, or Leicester Villa, or Newcastle v Sunderland or Liverpool/Everton v Utd or City etc etc.

Final is at Wembley, one game to win it, regardless of teams, that's what makes it special.

Well you are entitled to your view so I guess we'll have to agree to differ.

You've made your point albeit which is well wide of my specific point.

But there's already plans and sponsorships and travel arrangements, policing, safety groups all involved on the basis the game is at Wembley. So to change it at such short notice means changing so much more than just the location?
