Losing Kasper was a very big issue...not only on the pitch but his influence in the dressing room. Danny Ward came in and from a cold start was expected to perform to a high standard. With hindsight its

easy to see now that he needed a run of games to get up to speed and build his confidence. Sometimes i  think we forget that players are humans beings  and not machines.

Perhaps if he'd have been given more than one week's training following injury he'd had been more attuned to the job in hand?

No way should we have ever even been thinking about relegation with the squad we have available. Anything less than mid table would be a massive failure to me when you compare the squad we've got compared to the competition barring a really bad run of injuries. To get this squad relegated would require managerial incompetence of mammoth proportions.

I don't even think our squad is that far quality wise from Newcastle that are currently sitting 3rd. It's too early though. Let's see how things unfold after this big break.

If the manager continues how he has been the past 7 or so games then no chance, we might even sneak top 8. If the manager decides to revert back to his favoured style of play then we could quickly find ourselves in trouble.

It all depends on Rodgers mindset after a 6 or so week break.

The triple sub by BR in the 2nd half against West Ham indicates there were some drastic changes in his managerial mindset. He's also more active in the dugout and I've seen him talking way more to the other management staff and consulting them. This triple sub was impressive, spot on and unexpected, something most of us would have done in Football Manager 😁

The period between 26th December-4th Feb is going to be huge. 6 games, 5 of them absolutely winnable except the Liverpool one. If we manage to maintain our current form and grab 13pts or even 15pts out of 18pts there's a big chance we'll go afterwards to the 3 consecutive games against "Big-6" sitting 6th or even 5th place.

I've seen some positive signs from him lately but on past evidence it never lasts and he always reverts back.

I hope this time is the time the straw that broke the camels back.

I wonder just how much the transfer window remaining open at the start of the season affected us. With several players coming towards the end of their current deals, the not unexpected raid on Fofana (and to a lesser extent interest in Maddison) must have been unsettling. A squad cannot perform to its best when nobody knows who may or may not still be at the club over the coming days/weeks. Impossible to have a settled formation and tactics. The loss of the club captain and frustration at not being able to sign additions, without moving others on didn’t help either.

As usual, it is so called big teams that benefit by unsettling players with speculation and tapping up during the first rounds of games. the summer window should shut before the season starts to allow teams to prepare properly

From Fulham sitting at ninth with 19 points which is only 6 points above the drop zone all the clubs below them are potential relegation candidates. I don't believe Leicester will be in trouble but no club in that bottom group are out of danger. A couple of key injuries could spell disaster for any of the bottom group.

....there is a new dynamic within his staff, and it will be hard for him to go back to possession football!!!

...I agree that the Window should shut before the season starts!!!

The Fofana situation came out of the blue, there were no plans to offload him at the time, Madison was going nowhere, the price that was being quoted was more paper talk than anything else. Tielemans more than likely will still be with us next season. Kasper going was unfortunate for us and the situation with one in one out actually solved the problem of giving Rodgers money to spend.

Agreed still only 4points off relegation places. Losing Maddison in the January window would be a massive blow and possible if he has a chance of performing on the World stage.

There is absolutely zero chance Madders moves in January. And zero chance he'll ever go to Newcastle, as and when he's ready to leave.

Seeing him with England though is though basically a dry run for how it'll look/feel when he joins one of the elite, all smiles and hugs and to the manor born. He'll have given us 5 years tho and as sickening it is to see birds.fly the nest, we can't hold this one down

Fickle?..... us?..... nah!  lol

As it stands after 15 games....
409 votes placed
4% say we are going down
96% say we are staying up

As it stands after 10 games....
360 votes placed
69% say we are going down
31% say we are staying up

The "after 20 games" poll will be (mildly) interesting :)

Spot on. I have to admit after 7 games I really couldn't see any way out for us. We looked beaten as a club, so much seemed to be wrong.

I still think there is a chance we could go down though. We've picked up points, but they all come from sides at the bottom of the table. Unlike other teams we seem unable to get any or much reward when we play the so-called big six.

We have the great unknown of how the world cup will affect players and how many of ours come back injured.

Then there is the January transfer window to get through. it looks unlikely we will have much cash to spend, and it is a difficult window to get value. Could well be that we need to sell and ship out players before we can bring any in.

Agree with you on injuries. We have around 3 or 4 key players we couldn't afford to lose and long-term injuries to any of them would seriously weaken us a side and affect our chances of staying up.

Does look a lot more positive than a few weeks ago though.

....it seems a realistic post but very negative on the whole!!!

Why are you so afraid of what is to come, there is so much fear in your post. It seems faith is not something that you have much trust in unless there is tangible proof in front of you.

I posted some time ago that a new Manager coming in will take us up the league, my prediction has been top 6 and I am still sticking to that. Fulham releasing their manager and the number of points that they have garnered proves that it could be done.

We will have to see when we restart and then become the team that is chasing as opposed to the ones being chased.

I would hope we stay up.  The break is a mare for us as we then have 2 v tough games on return.

But we went in on the crest of a wave, tight at the back, scoring goals, confident & now we get a 6 week break.

Should easily have enough but some way to go yet!!

Got to say Wolves & Everton look a mess, and West Ham we’re well beaten too, aside from us there is some rubbish down there!!!
