From the  "After 10 games" poll

As it stands after 10 games....
69% say we are going down
31% say we are staying up

360 votes placed

So.... how much has changed in 3-4 weeks? :)

No, and didn't think we would either even when we were in the bottom 3.

From memory, I think we were never further than a couple of good results away from getting out of the relegation zone. As it is, we've picked up good form while others have stuttered.

I thought we were down unless we changed manager as was in complete free fall up to the Leeds game. 13 points from the last 6 games including 5 clean sheets has changed my mind and should see us finishing mid table. Now we need to push on and start performing against teams that aren't in complete free fall at the time we played them (Leeds, Wolves, Forest, Everton & West Ham).

Confidence is a funny thing in football and we've had the two extremes: dreadful and very very good. But even when we were not picking up points, our general play was really good, it was just that our defence + goalkeeper were letting in some easy goals amf putting in below par performances. That changed as soon as Wout came in

I suppose there are usually 4 or 5 teams each season (who dont get relegated, Southampton, everton etc) have a period on free fall, gaining sorta 1 point from 21....and our horror  run was magnified because it was the first 7 games and not cloaked by a drop from, say,.9th to 17th.

I think someone said on this forum ( in the heat of our bad run) that they recalled palace having a similar monstrous start a few years ago and ended easy in mid table.

It's just so refreshing having a 'keeper who isn't afraid to come off his line for corners & free kicks. It must help the defence so much.

Basically at this stage Knudsen and Stowell could be manager IMO. The current squad just needs solid defensive shape and Barnes, Maddison, Tielemans, Daka, Vardy sort the goals out with their individual brilliance. Theres nothing about our attacking play that Rodgers controls or coaches into the team i dont think. Unless he has tielemans practicing 30yd top bins volleys or has taught barnes to run 40 yds with the ball and smash it in.

If we routinely scored specific types of goals due to a 'style' youd take your hat off to rodgers, but if you take maddison, tielemans or.barnes out of the team then rodgers couldnt replicate the same with others.

That’s not really true, we were 0-1-6 after our first 7 games. We dreadful until we played Forest.

I think I know what you mean, but this seems like an attempt at a double negative!

Kinda felt what Suze meant (I think) but it had to read it a few times.

Perhaps i should have said 'I' was never in doubt. Even as bad as were were for the 1st 7 games, i still didn't think we would be relegated.

Blind hope, i guess.

Edit to add, just read the other replies and you are right, i really didn't word it appropriately. Message to self to re-read before clicking post.

The funny thing the summer transfer window seemed an absolute disaster, yet it appears Faes and the set piece coach were the only signings we needed...for now

I really want us to add a couple of players in January, it's an abysmal market as we know but we really need a couple more for strength off the bench

yes that Palace stat sustained me a bit . they were terrible at the start of that season .

It looks like being an odd season with no-one a nailed on relegation candidate as yet  and therefore a number of clubs will be looking over their shoulder even from a seemingly comfortable mid table position. Forest have looked terrible as have Wolves but every so often they can pick up surprise results and sides like Everton and W ham who are bottom of the form table will strengthen in January or hire in a new manager. I have a funny feeling that Brentford will go down . It happens every season a side that pulled off a miracle result early in the season ends up in the bin.

We were never going down based on the first 10 games - no one is relegated in October. We were either going to do what we’ve done, or Rodgers would have eventually gone and we would improved.

Was the usual “we’re doomed” suspects on here shooting their mouths off

I honestly thought the players, the tactics everything wasn't working for BR and he needed to leave in order to save the season.

I was 100% wrong and I dont mind admitting I was wrong he has completely changed my mind.

Dare I say it a result against Newcastle and Liverpool even 2 draws I would be quite confident after some business in January to push for Europe spot

Depends on if we sell our best palyers come january. If youri or madders goes we are going to be straight back into big trouble. If we keep them it will be no sweat. But somehow I feel they are already sold and bought.
