Great pod. One player who seems to escape any criticism is Mavididi who in my opinion has underachieved as much as anyone. Never thought he’d make it and the lack of effort from him is obvious

Wingers blow hot and cold, it’s sadly part and parcel of their game.

 

However, Stephy blows cold 8/10 and his demeanour when “not at it” is shocking.

 

I loved Klopp talking about mentality monsters, most of our current crop of players - Stephy epitomising it are mentality midgets.

Great Pod as always, but depressing as hell. Sadly thats just where we are as a club currently.

 

With regards to potential players coming in January. I think our prio should be a GOOD defender who will lead the line and take control. Like Ric? Said, what we have right now are all pretty much the same, none stand out and maybe if we could bring someone in, who can stand up and take control it might sort a big bunch of our defensive issues out.

Just listening - I don’t think it’s the worst PL side for underperforming at all. The 94-95 lot were dog muck, and the last lot that got us relegated underperformed more imo. Although the individual errors etc this season does remind me of the Rodgers-Smith campaign.

Just to clarify, I didn't say it was the worst for under performance. That is clearly the class of 2022/23 which is the worst relegation of any PL side in its history.

 

But this current lot are underperforming where as 1994/95 we were just an extremely limited bunch of misfits and journeyman who had character and got a number of impressive results.

 

2001/02 is comparable to this lot.

It’s an interesting debate in whatever way it was meant. I think this lot are the most hampered by incompetence at board level, but not certain about that. We have some decent quality, but no depth.
 

I was going to say they could be the worst  for mentality and character, but again I think that goes to Maddison et al. Still time though.

I’d say 01/02 were worse but the difference between the two scenarios were the 01/02 team was utterly hopeless from day one. We were relegated after the first game. 
 

 

With this lot, there is still hope…. But we know it’s pointless. It could end up being the worst team we’ve ever had at this level, but at the moment it still sits with the 01/02 bunch.

I thought we should spend within our means, but having listened to the pod I think we should do a Forest and spend our way out of trouble and take a hit next year if we stay up (like Forest). If we go down currently we’re buggered anyway in the current situation, so **** it.

Depends on how it works, Forest may have seemed like they went for it disregarding the rules, but they weren't that far over complying, had they have sold Johnson a month earlier for slightly less, they'd have complied, should we break the rules and go over the limit by let's say £80m, I don't know if the league would come down on us far heavier, and the repercussions could go on for many years, because they would keep punishing us every season until we complied.

What we need to do is stop paying these players so much money, I heard today and I'm not sure if true, that hamza gets £50k a week, of that's the case, it's absolute madness

Great ep, feel like the starting XI bit on Who Are You? could be better if it was a bit more like how Quickly Kevin used to do it though

 

Quizmaster names the game, season, opponent etc and the City formation. Then the other two guests essentially take it in turns to list members of the starting XI until one is wrong/knocked out. Don't think it would take up a whole heap of time baby

Loved listening this morning, Ric. Really pissed me off ahead of a day at work, thanks a lot. 

 

The point about where the ****inghell the new signings are needs to be echoed. Once again, we will be called entitled by other fanbases for expecting deals to be done by January 6th in a 33 day window... however. Bournemouth, Southampton & Spurs have all already made signings. 

 

We have known (Or rather we *should* have known) since the Fulham game that we desperately need bodies. Since then we've had significant injuries to our best winger, right back, goalkeeper & holding midfield player. It is completely unacceptable that no one is even close to getting through the door. 

It's like those that run the football club have been gaslighting the fans for about 4 years now and I'm genuinely exhausted by it.

The bit about our wages doesn’t get enough air time, I half understand the logical sense about kicking on under Rodgers and offering bumper contracts.

 

However, as it was said on the pod, we aren’t spending the same outlay on a player but then give players above average salary, someone please make that make sense.
