I'm sorry that's a load of rubbish. Not only is that not a penalty but at the very least the referee should be made to have another look and decide for himself. Ridiculous inconsistency

Agreed. But there's a stigma now that going to the monitor equals refs got it wrong. It needs stamping out.

Schar knows there'll be some kind of contact, falls over theatrically, milks it to con the ref, and the officials buy it.

The cynic in me thinks that now Newcastle are minted they’re getting the rub of the green more. 
 

Their first goal was the sort that you do see ruled out, the Newcastle player both backs into the keeper and pushes the Wolves defender into the keeper. Might have been soft, but it was a hell of a lot more of a foul than the penalty was.

VAR hasn’t improved things. There are just more officials making human error than before - bin 🗑️

It’s just an excuse to give the decision they want. Deliberately vague wording they can use as justification either way.
