If the cap fits

So you’re a dozy northern monkey???

Just don’t see why anyone wills expect everyone else to kowtow to their bosses just because you do. Some people unfortunately work for ***** and get abused, doesn’t mean that everyone else should.

So you had to work, doesn’t mean everyone w else has to. If my wife had just given birth there is no way that I’d be staying overnight at work because some knob of a boss demanded that I did. Even less chance that I would if I was earning what Winks is, I’m not holding it against him and I’m certainly not going to have a meltdown and demand that one of our best player ****s off to the detriment of the club.

So you would quit your job and make your family homeless whilst your wife was in maternity? Not ideal? I couldn’t risk that. Boss wasn’t particularly nobish, the work was in the US, there was no work at home then for me to to do. I got decent pay, expenses etc out of it.

If you think so I must be.

I think most people will do the jobs they are paid to do, if the alternative is work or no work.

Just because footballers are entitled doesn’t mean they should throw their toys out of the pram.

If I had 2 weeks of Winks pay I could live for 4 years!

End of the day if you don’t like a job quit but it’s reasonable for someone who pays your wage to ask you to do something. Sure he can mutually terminate if he doesn’t like it.

I didn’t like Winksy’s reaction tonight but he is our most important alchemical ingredient. The whole team is better when he’s on it. As long as he is the tide that lifts all boats he can be afforded his arrogance.

That applies to you, it doesn’t to Winks so why expect him to just do what the boss asks.

I wouldn’t stay overnight at work whether my wife was pregnant or not, not part of my contract so it’s not happening.

I was a union rep and would never allow myself or work colleagues to be abused.

I think the fans have perspective, it’s the players that don’t. They live in a bubble.

You can’t expect to live an abnormally privileged life and treated like a normal person. It doesn’t work like that. He refuses to engage with the community he represents and that might also be seen as him not reinvesting into the local economy.

He might be able to get away with that if he was so brilliant that he raises the profile of the club, but he isn’t. Football is about pride primarily.

Footballers get everything from society and give little back. If anything they should be far less popular than they are.

Nobody says he shouldn’t have a personal life, but it’s not like he’s mingling with the locals at the pub like Walshie and Izzet is it? His personal life is living lavishly in a mansion down south. He’s entitled to do that, but why should people love him for it?

Fans don’t have to love him. They can think what they like. But the club has to manage the situation for the best interests of the club. Managing multi-millionaires with egos is not simple.

If being abused is staying in a 5* hotel room away from the wife and kids for 90 bags a week abuse me 365 days of the year. How pathetic

Well articulated. 👍. And there is one of the issues. Fans expect players to be exclusively focussed on their professional role as footballers. Yet expect those same players to respect that the fans are  giving up on their life outside of football to support their team. Perspective is required. Many of our supporters for have any. We all lose it from time to time with inept displays. Myself definitely included. But some never show anything other than hatred and intolerance. It’s ridiculous.

Agree

but without going off track to much, I think the country currently is very negative, and cyclical. There has to be a blame culture, at times it’s our players.

If you don’t stand up for your rights then expect to be walked all over. You fight back and point out that you aren’t contracted to stay overnight, you don’t just quit and hope to get another job. This is why this country is so ****ed, too many doing what he boss asks rather than joining a union and fighting for their rights.

Has nothing to do with how much Winks is earning, matter of principles.

But most contracts stipulate that you will be required to work away from your main place of work from time to time at the company's discretion.

More importantly, footballers do not have the same work life as normal people. So trying to say Winks should or shouldn't do something because 'we' would or wouldn't, isn't really relevant.

Still think he's good enough for the PL but needed a different type of player alongside him. Shame he's a bit of a knob though.

Winks chose to come and play at Leicester, I wouldn’t think it unreasonable for him to have a contract at Leicester and be expected to be at Leicester if the club requires to be honest. It’s rumoured 1 day in a week. Obviously our definition of unreasonable differs somewhat which is fine.

Do they?

What job do you do, I’ve been working for 50 years and it’s never applied to me.

I really wish we could bin him but because we're run by complete arseholes, the player has all the power over us.

From back to back 5th placed finishes to being held ransom by Harry Winks in under five years. Incredible. You'll really never see another decline like it.

Lad needs to get a grip of reality.

When I had a new born daughter I had to work away all week to provide for them. These footballers are too entitled. If they don’t like it get a proper job! Turning in a shift like these willy pullers have for the past 2 years would see them fired in most workplaces.

Jeez man you’re not the first new father that has had to work away. It’s shit, what new father wouldn’t want to stay with their newborns right?

Winks wants to be at home with his newborn, so do you. He can afford to be, you/I cannot.

get over it. I  Don’t understand the hate, and bitterness.

Lovely goal. Three touches; control, set, hit - goal. All fluid and snappy, clean hit.

I've missed the bit as to why he didn't give it a proper celebration. Down to our unique supporters again?

At lot of contracts in my role will require work away from home and internationally. To be honest mostly it’s an expenses paid trip to somewhere I might not go, so I’m not exactly sure what I’m fighting against.

If the company needs work doing in the US and there is no work in the UK, more specifically the midlands what do you expect my fight is going to do? They can’t just employ me to sit and do **** all because of rights. I’d say that would maybe lead to the company saying **** that and closing down my office?! I don’t know.

Footballers get more free time than most professions and get to spend more time with family than most.

The average man gets his 2 weeks off when they have a kid (I know this is increasing a little) and then it's back to work 9-5 while your 2 week old is at home.

Add the fact footballers families don't have to work and have no financial pressures whatsoever.

I mean none of us really know if this is what's causing Winks to sulk, or if he's even sulking. It could just be that it's the first round of a tinpot cup and he's not happy about not starting Sunday or today. Who knows?

I think all because he can/does have more money and free time, that us mere mortals can only dream off, doesn’t mean we are right.

When I became a father for the first time, I wanted to be around my children and supporting my now ex, 24/7…  being a millionaire would not have changed this.

but fans seem to think, because they don’t have that luxury, why should a multi millionaire.
