Honestly how did we end up with a squad with such attitude problems:

Vestergaard

Faes

Winks

Ayew

Mavididi

And others…

because we don't do due diligence: e.g, ability, injury history, attitude, long term potential, sale potential, wage demands, outside interests/influences........do they fit the type of player we need to advance a certain playing style....most of your horror list would have failed these very basic questions

I remember Kane absolutely dominating him in one particular game. It was actually sad to watch.

My overriding memory of Vestergaard is of him and Kane in a foot race for a ball over the top. Kane, not exactly known for his pace, started behind him, reached the ball first and then pulled away from him! Ive honestly never seen a player run that ****ing slow and i dont think il ever forget it. I cant actually remember how the sequence ended but given his record against us probably with the mouth breather sticking it in the net.

Vardy was asked on his golf YouTube where the strength came form to win the PL, he said was about buying players who fitted in with the culture and helped each other, Vestergaard was never a good fit he was too obsessed with himself.

Slowest we’ve ever had? Got to be up there.

Ryan Bennett? He always looked like he was running through treacle

Huth was similarly slow but wasn't a problem when we played him in a low block

you can tolerate a glacially slow CB if they can do the ugly stuff well. Vestergaard couldnt

I’d say he was even slower than Bennett

That season under Maresca he was fine, even actually good. Sometimes it's the system a player is used in.

Yes, same with Winks as well really.

Technically good players, however routed to one style of football. Once it was exposed or we didn’t have others that could play that, getting them to adapt to another style was difficult.

His pace wasn’t the deciding factor.

I would say his biggest asset was his calmness on the ball when in possession. If the players around you treat it like a hot potato or don’t generate space, then you’re screwed.

Whilst he wasn’t at the level required before our decline started, and far from an ideal signing, I feel that players like Skipp, Soumare, Daka, Benkovic, etc and he at least contributed something…….. sort of.

It is crazy to think we went from Morgan > Huth > Maguire > Evans > Soyuncu > Fofana > Vestergaard.

He should have gone sooner, however maybe he knew retirement was on the cards after leaving us, so he just ran the contract down, waiting for it to be terminated.

A side note,  the entire bring your dog to work day saga was just insane.

A scary reminder of our demise.

The list is likely going to continue to worsen too 🤦🏻‍♂️

It didn't exactly endear him to the fans or his teammates.

I mean, if I took my dog into work, I don’t think they’d be overly impressed.

Maybe he actually retired to spend more time with Brady. It's possible he turned down offers from Aarhus and Roskilde.
