There were too many times when we had to wince as we watched him run through treacle against attackers.  Eventually, fear of this happening started to rub off on his teammates and it affected how we played when he was selected.

He was awful in the air for a huge guy and yet, bafflingly, commentators would always talk about what a threat he was, whenever we won a corner.

He got outmuscled far too much, for the size he is.

The thing we wanted him for, that Maresca made a big part of his game plan, was as a ball playing maestro at the back, the T in our tiki taka.  Draw in the opponent, pass it around them.  He was surprisingly good with his feet for a big fellah, and he could control a ball and pick a pass.

But I'm glad I'll never have to watch Vestergaard, Winks, Faes and the keeper pass it to each other again, and again, and again, going nowhere.

Farewell, sweet dog owning Danish Prince.

So maybe this new sporting director is actually someone competent, interesting we managing to get players to leave finally

Paying up a high percentage of the last year of his contract isn’t exactly deal of the century.

But in this case it was something that needed to happen, that I don't think Rudkin has the skills to do correctly.

I can't believe that we're paying him to not play for us.  I also can't believe that I still think that its worth it.

It's like we have a squad of Dennis Wises.  They all need to go.  Every last one.

One decent season in 5 years. Should never of been signed in the first place like all the other Southampton bums

Yep.

Plus his one good season was when he was given all the time in the world to pick passes and even then he struggled defensively with endless yellows.

And the fact we're now in league 1,which may turn out to be a blessing in the long run.

How could you possibly know that?

You can't put a price on self-respect.

..Oh hang on.  Yes, you can.

I do know that, unless you are a complete moron.

The further pay cut going down again clearly means he is just as well off by accepting half his wages for the year and getting a contract somewhere else.

In the championship he rode it out because he'd never have got a contract on that level.

Still better than keeping him, hes out, and that percentage not paid is a saving.
Would have been better earlier though meaning entire PSR hit would be in a single season.  Thats where the real benefit would have come from.
We need to kill this "cant cut our losses" mindset.

league 1 is such a chance to basically just mostly use academy players, but that could be wasted if we keep bringing in veterans.
