Big 6 are a virus killing football in this country. Steal all the money, steal all the publicity, incentuous relationship with the media and pundits, which causes problems with refereeing due to the pressure put on them to "not make a mistake" which costs a big 6 team a game. When they tried to kill league football in this country, they should have been kicked out for good. Booted out, retrospectively stripped of every single trophy and honour they ever won. Told if they show a single second of old match footage or an image of a trophy they would be sued for infringing FA, premier league and football league IP and copyrights. Instead they were welcomed back with open arms and allowed to chose what their "punishment" would be.

Can you define the "big 6" please?

For the majority of my life (51) we’ve been Championship level with no expectation that we’ll piss the league. I’m enjoying being favourites and the Twitterati saying it’s weird seeing Leicester ‘at this level’. Weird!

I do have fond memories of the Championship no matter how sh** we were at times. It was all I knew of Leicester for most of my childhood. So it does feel a little nostalgic and feel somewhat more connected

I hate to use the phrase "our level" but I can tell you honestly, I'd prefer to be in the Championship doing whatever than being like Man City, for example, and completely selling out. We've been extremely lucky with our owners so we've still kept our soul.

Man utd, Liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City. "Big" as in the label they and the media have given themselves, not necessarily anything to do with winning trophies (hence Tottenham). Funnily enough, the exact 6 clubs who were involved in the super League plot. They've convinced themselves they are the only thing in the country that matters in football, and are constantly trying to twist the game in their favour to get an even larger slice of the pie. Greedy 6 is probably a better label.

It feels far less suffocating coverage-wise. I listened to Carragher and Neville doing their forced banter, then Daniel Sturridge singing and thought "thank God we are out of this for a while". The punditry seems sharper and better thought out in the main.

Having the majority of the matches kick off at the same time is a positive. You get the games done and can shut down for a bit. There was a 10-day spell in April/ May where there was a match involving us or teams around us on eight seperate days. It just got too much.

100% agree with this. Jobi McAnuff seems to be the hat Sky hang their EFL coverage on as a 'main' pundit and he's fantastic, just as Liam Rosenior was. David Prutton is a really good anchor too, I never liked Dave Jones who seemed a bit too "we know a joke that you don't" to me. Only negative with their EFL coverage is it being a real shame they've stuck with Goodman on co-comms, he's just never been fit for purpose.

See, that's why I disagree with the concept of the big six, as it's always up for change, although I do agree with the general notion of sky arse licking etc Don't forget Everton used to be one of the big 6. Newcastle will upset the cart now. I just don't think we can blame just 6 teams when they'd all lob the championship and below under the bus if they coud

no VAR, more 3pm kick offs, no sunday 2pm/4pm kick offs, no real monday 8pm kick offs, more games

less crap pundits who dont know what they are talking about

Get ready.

When the European football kicks in, be more Sunday 12pm and Monday games chosen.

Noticed they are using the Sunday noon more than than the Fridays at the start of the season

without reading this whole thread I can guarantee I'm not the first to mention VAR. I like the fact the decisions are supposed to be right with VAR but they really need to find a way to implement it better. Watched some of the Brentford - Spurs game earlier and the game had 2 VAR moments and they both were laborious and spoiled the game, whereas after a quick look to the linesman against Hudds to see no flag meant good to go.

Also genuine fans following their, nearly always, local teams. Some different grounds, if not new.

And - Midweek night games

Yeah that Romero decision and the Wilson goal last night. Talking millimetres of a decision - to delay a game by multiple minutes.

If it’s so tight, you can’t tell that quick, I can accept that as humans simply can’t get it to that degree of measurement

not for us thankfully

the sunday noon one for the championship is rare, and EFL games on a sunday is rare too tbf, usually happens more so during international breaks for league 1/2 teams,

tho friday EFL games are pretty much the norm now, friday 8pm and saturday 1230 , sometimes 530(but its mostly start and end of season)

think our sunday noon one v coventry was partly done on police advice

In the opening six weeks, they have chosen Sunday 12 four times. No Friday game for three of them.

No VAR.

Winning matches.

That's it.

It is quite mad how quickly that was forgotten. Quite telling really.

So far, despite the painful drop in quality, the confidence and relaxation before and during the games compared to the last 18 months of the Prem has been nice. It's only been 2 games though.

and its understandable when you look at some of the fixtures, 2 of them are millwall games, and one is Millwall Leeds; pretty sure 3 of the 4 Sunday games were moved partly on police advice too

minus the Watford blackburn one

also european football wont have any affect on the championship, internationals do of course

For two of the weekends that there is a Sunday noon kick off, there is no Friday evening game. So they must think there’s a better audience in that slot.

Police advice is always a patchy point, it’s valid for the examples you’ve mentioned but they’ve selected Cardiff v Swansea for a 7.45pm Saturday kick off.

We’ve got off lightly so far but we will suffer eventually with all sorts of daft television times as we did last time we were in the division.

When the European competitions are underway, there is less chance of PL having Friday and Monday evening fixtures….so the Championship picks up the slack. Examples last season where if you get picked for a Monday, your midweek game goes to a Thursday which makes your next weekend game go to a Sunday.

I think the EFL is in many things but when you are at the top of the Champ, the scheduling is as annoying

I love the Premier League for the football itself, the quality and analysing the margins that decide it at the top level. But almost all of the rest of it is a lamentable circus that’s finally completely sold out to murderous petrostates and American Private Equity.

The Championship just feels more like how football should feel. But if we don’t get out of it this year, it could become quite painful.

Otherwise, football’s shit when you’re shit and good when you’re good no matter what the division
