The begging is gonna be worse because the aways ain’t gonna make all ST holders unless it’s a week day down the arse end of the country

The top division of our national game has basically been ruined hasn't it. Of course the lower leagues are not totally free of the bullshit but they retain some of the things we love about the sport and the culture which have been lost in the PL. Very depressing.

It was fantastic watching the first weekend of Soccer Saturday not knowing if things were going to form or not when the scores were coming in.

I actually enjoy the unpredictability of the league and that it's less of a tactical game and generally teams go full throttle against each other.

You know playing Man City, we'll sit deep for most the game and not take many risks.

Obvious answer but no VAR. Seeing some of that crap earlier - I think I could be subjected to it for 30 years and I'd never support it being there. VAR is anti-football.

Agreed - will mention though that parachute payments do make the second tier a bit of a mini PL to a degree

It feels far less suffocating coverage-wise. I listened to Carragher and Neville doing their forced banter, then Daniel Sturridge singing and thought "thank God we are out of this for a while". The punditry seems sharper and better thought out in the main.

Having the majority of the matches kick off at the same time is a positive. You get the games done and can shut down for a bit. There was a 10-day spell in April/ May where there was a match involving us or teams around us on eight seperate days. It just got too much.

There seems to be fewer people with opinions on the club. No Laura Woods, or Jamie Redknapp, or those weird football twitter people who pretend to know stuff about clubs outside the top 4 of the Premier League.

I don’t have to listen to Manchester City fans (great team, terrible fan base) sing about us sacking Ranieri.

More Northern away days! Huddersfield and Rotherham in the first month, the fixtures have been kind.

That’s all I can think of at the minute. I’d rather be in the top flight.

There's a lot more about it I like than I thought I would but I'm also not willing to totally accept that I prefer the second tier because if that is the case then it undermines the entire point of all of it.

Said it a few times on here, but this will be our most fun season for a long time.

The lot of the positives are also through Enzo tinted glasses tbf. If we had Dean Smith in charge, no offence to him, then I'm not sure I'd write my reply.

I think we actually have a reason to enjoy it because we're regaining an identity and we're already seeing that in front of us.

It's better in pretty much every way in my opinion.

This thread has about a hundred ideas already for things that could be added or removed from the Premier League that would make it a better experience for the fans.

Bizarrely, I enjoy that not everyone with a social media account has an opinion on your team from a collection of news articles, five minutes highlights and when you play one of the big six.

If you want to know about the second tier, you have to find it. And in the process that filters out all these silly nobs

You get a really good low-down on a lot of the teams from some of the vloggers in this league - I know more about Ipswich than I really should because of Alex Griffin for example. lol

Far too many top flight teams have their fan channel space choked out by overblown shite like AFTV. Like everything else in the league it's become a parody of itself, even individuals like Mark Goldbridge are more about the entertainment factor of the individual than actual insight and analysis nowadays.

Jamie Carragher, Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, etc. have absolutely no interest in our club and it shows whenever they cover us. If we're not playing a big six side, most of the pre-match coverage will be about the biggest big six stories with a cursory look at our game in the final 15 minutes before kick-off. All the pundits still think we're a counterattacking side.

Championship coverage isn't that great, by and large, but there are real gems like Mark Clemmit who absolutely immerse themselves in the football league and provide real insight instead of fighting over who can make the best point about the big six.

without reading this whole thread I can guarantee I'm not the first to mention VAR. I like the fact the decisions are supposed to be right with VAR but they really need to find a way to implement it better. Watched some of the Brentford - Spurs game earlier and the game had 2 VAR moments and they both were laborious and spoiled the game, whereas after a quick look to the linesman against Hudds to see no flag meant good to go.

Also genuine fans following their, nearly always, local teams. Some different grounds, if not new.

And - Midweek night games

Looking at the league table at just after 5pm on a Saturday and everyone has played their games.

You might not want to check next couple week's fixtures then

Nothing.

I want us to get promoted from this division at the first time of asking.

Ask questions like that once we've done it a la League One. Because I guarantee that everyone's answer would have been 'nothing' if we'd gotten stuck in it for years like Sunderland, Forest, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday.

We can romanticise about the Championship all we like once we've been shafted by VAR to lose 1-0 at home to Newcastle via a Barnes goal that was a nanometer onside next season.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know these clubs again. The likes of Plymouth, Hull and Ipswich.

Before we got promoted, I thought fans of PL clubs were shite for not knowing the first thing about championship teams. In 2010 I could probably tell you QPR’s best starting eleven.

But naturally you get consumed by the top flight and especially with all our success, you naturally lose interest in any leagues below your own. I’d watch championship goals if they were on, but I wouldn’t go looking for them. I’d have a general idea on good sides and players but I wouldn’t recognise Coventry’s defenders if they walked past me in the street.

Before this season I’ve listened to a few Championship based podcasts and it’s been enjoyable getting to learn about these sides again, rather than listening to what Jamie Ohara and Jason Cundy think about Declan Rice. It just feels more “proper”.
