I don't think anyone is saying they would rather be in the championship, but we're here so let's focus on the positives.

I do wonder how positive this thread would be if we didn't have 6 points and we'd had a valid winning goal chalked off incorrectly for offside or conceded a penalty from a blatant dive.

To go off slightly at a tangent, I prefer the Championship precisely because it doesn't feature the so called Premier League 'big six' clubs whose levels of spending this season particularly have shown how it is almost impossible for 75% of the other clubs in the Premier League to compete with them.

In the Championship there is more for us to play for than simply trying to avoid relegation whilst hoping that by some chance we might also somehow manage to sneak into the top six positions ourselves - we have achieved that before, yes, but the chances that if back in the Premier League we might do that again seem to me to be diminishing by the hour.

That to me is not what a competitive league should be about and I've surprised myself by not missing it. I really wish those six clubs would join their super league and clear off leaving the remaining clubs in the Premier League to compete on a far more even footing. I might then even look forward to joining them!

This thread will be quiet when we inevitably lose a game. The amount of games will wear thin. No VAR is the only proper benefit.

I'd have enjoyed it more already if we'd have had the reset we needed behind the scenes, going down should have been a huge wake up call, the only reason it's been good so far is we've somehow stumbled on a good manager.

No VAR for sure.

Knowing that elation that takes over you isn’t going to get wiped out when a goal gets inevitably ruled out is a wonderful feeling in itself.

Nothing original......

No longer having to endure smoke being blown up ‘The Big 6/7’.

No VAR…….so nice knowing a goal is a goal as long as there’s no flag.

Saturday 3pm kick offs. Especially away days.

Potential play offs. Hopefully we don’t need them, but they have been a great idea.
Not having to hear ‘I bet you’ve only followed Leicester since 2016 !’

Even that's only a superficial benefit.

I will admit it's been nice to not have to worry about play being called back for x or y thing after the game has moved on. When Stephy scored it was nice to not have to worry that it could be ruled out.

But we've also seen our players already flagged offside a couple times in promising positions when they were almost definitely onside. Think that's going to happen to us loads this year.

Also think that VAR would be under much less suspicion if we had it in the EFL as there'd significantly less concern about bias towards the big six.

I'd rather have a few marginal calls go against us than have the joy of scoring sapped away most weeks.

When VAR works it adds very little emotionally but when it doesn't - it kills a game.

Yeah I get it.

Personally I can't wait for the day we have the technology to flag offsides with complete accuracy in real time. Hawkeye that shit.

I'd be happy if we had that and goal line technology and then just drew a line under tech in football and let it go there.

This and more passionate fans at the grounds. No one that supports championship teams are glory supporters like Man City for example.

Championship is a hard, gritty league but part of me loves it.

I'd argue this is the most insufferable bit about being back down. Loser fans of allegedly big clubs who've done fvck all for decades sucking each other off about how they were "class fans today, both of us shud b in the prem m8". No ta.

I know every town has 'em, but MH is full of 'Big 6' plastics.

Mostly Liverpool & Chelsea, a bit of Spurs too. Man Utd also, but some actually go to home games.

100% this. I never said and never will say that I would rather we be in the championship. however here are some aspects tat make coping with it a little easier.

If we get promoted, Enzo will continue the passing, but the difference will be in the EPL we will get fouled every 2 minutes to break up play, opposition will keep getting injured to break up play, we wont be allowed to have long stretches of play.  Then people will recognise yep, the championship has less of that rubbish.

Does that include deciding if they were interfering with play or if it was a phase 2 offside or not because the defender didn't intentionally play the ball. (Lauren James' offside goal was a ridiculous decision). There is one thing determining if a player is in an offside position at a specific point*. It's another to factor in all the other variables that make an offside.

*Determining that specific point is also a minefield and the frame rate of the VAR camera is still not high enough to establish the exact moment a ball was kicked.

I think we're a long way off automatic offsides.

I know Harborough has always had a sizeable number of Arsenal due to evacuees from North London being moved there in the war, who then stayed up here and their kids/grandkids subsequently supported them. There's a branch of my mum's family who are an example of that.

Wouldn't say MH has any higher or lower proportion of glory hunter fans than anywhere else though. You certainly see more LCFC merch in town now than you did when I was a kid, which is no mean feat given the amount of London commuters who've moved up in recent years.

That interfering with play decision is easy to fix, drop the rule, offside is offside.

And the phases of play? This all came in years ago when a player was injured in the box and was flagged for offside. It also allows for players retreating from an offside position if they've had to close down a time wasting goal keeper (I would love to see what would happen if we scrapped offside completely).

I guess the compromise is that technology flags immediately that there was an offside in the build up then VAR reviews if it had a direct impact on the goal.

I bet this is how most fans of other championship clubs see us, right?

If I’m a Huddersfield fan I’m wondering how we compete against the likes of Leicester and Southampton.

I mean, I'm not sure where you think I was implying any of it was easy or that I personally had the answers.

I assume some particularly brilliant engineers are behind technology in the likes of cricket and tennis.

I'm just saying I hope one day we get to see something similar for offside in football.

Even what they achieved in the world cup with the semi automated offsides was pretty incredible really.
