I live an hours drive from niagara falls where they are in the path of totality but some of us need to work. Ah well, im not really too bothered about this stuff. Where i live its cloudy so might be lucky to see partial eclipse. It all kicks off in the next hour for a few hours

Shame you can’t get away

this total eclipse only occurs once every 18 years and it won’t happen again near you in your lifetime

One of the Doctors here has brought in extra sets of special glasses to look at the eclipse with. I just hope it means some of the patients don’t come for their appointments..

Coverage of the eclipse has been poor so far. Just as totallity was happening and you see the diamond ring effect, the bloody picture switched to the crowd all holding their phones to the sky.

Then, as totallity was being covered elsewhere, they switched the feed back to an area where it was coming to an end.

Ah well, 3rd time lucky.....

I saw the total eclipse in Normandy in the late 90s - no one gave a shit on the news or anywhere. It’s cool, but it doesn’t make anyone with a camera special.

I love that you pointed that out and not the inconceivability of the GOVERNMENT HAVING CONTROL OVER THE FVCKING WEATHER. lol

Le Tissier is just a professional WUM at this point. I don't think for a second he believes half the shit he comes out with. It's just an engagement generating tactic for a bit of extra coin.

there’s people out there who genuinely believe the earth is flat…

you wouldn’t believe some of the things  a member of my distant family believes.. you get hooked onto certain websites and you believe  everything they tell you..

I've always believed vast majority of these people are anxious, disenfranchised, perhaps on the fringes of society and probably lonely.

They convince themselves to believe this nonsense for a sense of community, and to provide comfort by identifying a convenient scapegoat and thereby making the world seem more straightforward and controllable.

One point few seem to grasp - there were lockdowns in countries across the globe at the same time. Was it only the British government controlling the weather Matt???

I think you are being too kind . Conspiracy theorists usually have a massive lack of distrust in most things and a touch of paranoia mixed in. Some.  are very intelligent and well integrated into a society they deeply distrust. I work with a surgeon for example who believes some strange things too..

And just to add, you should look into the conspiracy theory of ‘Chem trails’. And this will ‘ explain’ ( as they see it) how the government controls the weather.

( basically they are saying the government gets little planes up in the air that sprays chemicals out that causes clouds to form and make it rain)
