It's not my argument. If you read the panel ruling on Everton's appeal, they place great emphasis on sporting advantage. It seems to be a major factor in determining punishment.

Genuinely past caring anymore, seems the premier league just pluck numbers out of the air, whatever division we are in next season we will be starting on minus, the sooner they "big 6" get their super league the letter, the prem will absolutely sh*t themselves

How can you as a club or a fan have to reply on an appeal hearing before you know what league you are in.

Looks like our 'offence' is probably worse than their's and more akin to Everton so would expect a 6 to 10 point deduction.

Maybe the Premier League should implement a rule that if you lose your appeal the deduction is increased. Would put clubs off appealing and mean that it’s more likely these instances are solved during the season, rather than after the last game. 
 

Ie. If Forest appeal and their appeal isn’t successful, then the deduction increases to say 6 pts

They won't 'clear off' though, will they? They'll still be in the PL and dominating proceedings even if they're in the super league as well.

There has to be something that combats completely spurious appeals. But whilst this entire process is so ad hoc there needs to be a full and properly independent appeals process. 

 

The only thing that does need sorting is a firm timeline of key dates that are consistent with the dates of the season itself, to prevent things bleeding into other seasons:

• Accounts submitted
• Reviews completed
• Punishments provided
• Appeals processed

We signed 7 players for a fee from 2020-23 on a net spend of c. £40m, just shows how out of control our wage bill was - good job the people responsible have all been sa- oh wait.

Hopefully following Evertons successful appeal, the Premier League have been more realistic this time around so there is less for Forest to appeal. 4 pts doesn’t appear over zealous, as Everton effectively argued.

Nottingham Forest will have seven days to appeal their points deduction to the Premier League. 

The response to the appeal has to be sent within seven days of that. A directions hearing to agree a date for the appeal to be heard will then have to take place within seven days of that.

The absolute backstop date for the appeal hearing to be concluded is 24 May, which is after the final games. 

However, the guidance in the regulations is that ‘if possible’ it should be done a long time before 24 May and we have reached this point three weeks ahead of deadline so there is no reason why it should not be done before the final games.
