It's not my argument. If you read the panel ruling on Everton's appeal, they place great emphasis on sporting advantage. It seems to be a major factor in determining punishment. 1
copunk Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 Genuinely past caring anymore, seems the premier league just pluck numbers out of the air, whatever division we are in next season we will be starting on minus, the sooner they "big 6" get their super league the letter, the prem will absolutely sh*t themselves 2

We are genuinely going to be the biggest losers in this because Everton and Forest both have the luxury of Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton being in the league, as well as each other having deductions. We'd go up and probably be the only ones, with nowhere near as bad competition. We've lost out massively. We were relegated, and as you say this year is a weak prem whilst we're fighting on the strongest championship ever

How can you as a club or a fan have to reply on an appeal hearing before you know what league you are in. the appeal and points must be sorted by the last day.

Lionator Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 Looks like our 'offence' is probably worse than their's and more akin to Everton so would expect a 6 to 10 point deduction.
Foxes96 Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 Maybe the Premier League should implement a rule that if you lose your appeal the deduction is increased. Would put clubs off appealing and mean that it’s more likely these instances are solved during the season, rather than after the last game. Ie. If Forest appeal and their appeal isn’t successful, then the deduction increases to say 6 pts 2

Hopefully the cards will come tumbling down on the PL and the greedy 6/7 clear off to their super league. Complete reset of football in England is needed soon or itll be a slow painful death. 3

We may find ourselves appealing against a decision in the not-too-distant future... 1

They won't 'clear off' though, will they? They'll still be in the PL and dominating proceedings even if they're in the super league as well.

But whilst this entire process is so ad hoc there needs to be a full and properly independent appeals process. Popular Post Stadt Posted 18 March 2024 Popular Post Posted 18 March 2024 Forest at least had (reckless) fun with their spending. We signed 7 players for a fee from 2020-23 on a net spend of c. £40m, just shows how out of control our wage bill was - good job the people responsible have all been sa- oh wait. 2 3
Foxes96 Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 Yes quite possibly… Hopefully following Evertons successful appeal, the Premier League have been more realistic this time around so there is less for Forest to appeal. 4 pts doesn’t appear over zealous, as Everton effectively argued.

The only thing that does need sorting is a firm timeline of key dates that are consistent with the dates of the season itself, to prevent things bleeding into other seasons: Accounts submitted Reviews completed Punishments provided Appeals processed taken from BBC Sport… Nottingham Forest will have seven days to appeal their points deduction to the Premier League. The response to the appeal has to be sent within seven days of that. A directions hearing to agree a date for the appeal to be heard will then have to take place within seven days of that. The absolute backstop date for the appeal hearing to be concluded is 24 May, which is after the final games. However, the guidance in the regulations is that ‘if possible’ it should be done a long time before 24 May and we have reached this point three weeks ahead of deadline so there is no reason why it should not be done before the final games.

Pliskin Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 We’re likely to get 6 to 10 points then…… realistically only 6 but it seems the PL are after us so it will probably be 20 points…….

Groby_Blue Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 -2 points for mitigation and co-operation. Good job we like to be co-operative with football authorities then...
moore_94 Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 https://www.premierleague.com/news/3936397 Nottingham Forest was referred to an independent Commission on 15 January, following an admission by the club that it had breached the relevant PSR threshold of £61 million by £34.5 million.

coolhandfox Posted 18 March 2024 Posted 18 March 2024 People are running away with this. Before you guess what is going to happen to us, we need to be a) charged and b) see the accounts, as nobody knows the details. 1
