Foxin_Mad Posted 27 June 2024 Posted 27 June 2024 Another half arsed Belgian International who probably doesn't actually want to be here. Id stay well clear. 2
Dahnsouff Posted 27 June 2024 Posted 27 June 2024 He is left footed and has a silly haircut. Get it done.

It's a conundrum, midfield is the biggest priority which might mean we wait to see. We currently have 5 CBs, although none of them are left footed. Nelson and Vestergaard are comfortable off both feet and Faes is equally as erratic either side. It'd easy to presume under Cooper he's going to be happier with CBs like Coady and Souttar but who knows. Whatever the foot of elusive defender, we need pace. Nathan Zeze was heavily linked last season and ticks all the boxes except is he ready for the PL yet? Fofana was at the same age but we already have Nelson trying to push for the 1st team. If Maresca was still here I thought we might be in with a shot of Facundo Gonzalez from Juventus. Did very well on loan at Sampdoria last season. Looks ideal. 1

I'd still like to see us aproach Lloyd Kelly, depending on his injury situation. Edit. Never mind. I just saw he's apparently signed with Newcastle. Edited 3 July 2024 by Scotch 1

Of course a lot will also depend on if Cooper goes for two or three centre backs. As they always say, you need two players each position, but when it comes to centre backs it’s probably best to have five in case of injuries. With the rumours we’ve seen, apart from Gabriel Pereira, I think the rest of the centre backs we’ve been linked with have been left footed. From what I’ve seen of Nathan Zeze, personally I don’t think he’s ready mate. He got a run in the Nantes team under Jocelyn Gourvennec, I saw him against Reims in January where he had a decent performance, but apart from that I thought he looked pretty average defensively. Antoine Kombouare then returned as manager in March and dropped Zeze from the get go, the last time I saw him he got torn to shreds by Lyon. He then started the last two games of the season, one of which was a 4-0 defeat to Monaco. There’s a cluster of defenders under 20 in Ligue 1 that are better than him at this moment in time imo. As for other possibilities, I’ve mentioned Konstantinos Koulierakis and Lorenzo Pirola in the past, but yet again, are they good enough to be regular starters in the Premier League at this moment in time, possibly not. Whatever the case though, as you said yourself, we need a centre back with pace. 1

I really like Alan Saldivia but not left footed

Seen you mention Saldivia before, I just feel we need someone with a bit more credibility tbh mate, someone that would be capable of going straight into the starting 11.
