A minor point to note, but interesting to see it.

In both the recent BSMT games. Monga began on the right and was moved to the left. IMO he’s looked better on the left on both occasions.

Less time out last time but to see him for the full 90 with basically 45 mins on each wing… I’d say he’s much stronger on the left.

perfect. Monga and fatawu starting in the championship next year then

it’s funny how when they introduced under 21s playing in this competition, fans were terrified that the b teams would always win. I bet against the youth teams because they always tend to get thumped.

It’s a reality check really, because even standing out in under 21 football is lower than playing against a league 2s reserve team. All it shows is that loans are needed because the level is clearly miles below football league

I agree about the competition, but we were the better team.. Maybe the goalkeepers were the difference. Nine times out of ten we win that - this was the one in ten that football throws up from time to time.

yeah but as @spacemunky said, only a handful of them even make their bench. Their actual 11 pummels us every time

I watched the whole thing, technically a good performance and totally dominant, just as always missing the cutting edge & final ball that the play warranted, most of the time. Though still had enough chances to win that game.

As others said, monga looked really good especially considering his age. Evans likewise impressed and was very involved in most our good play. Golding had plenty about him to suggest he could be a player too, though that probably to be expected.  I didn't rate alves much at all to be honest, considering his 'status' he was absent for a lot of the game, occasionally showing something decent.

But yeah, I reckon monga could be giving fats something to think about longer term. Thought he did decent both sides of the pitch too. He has great feet.

Where's Monga going to inevitably end up at next season then? Modern football is a tad depressing

Depends whether we've learned from our mistakes or not.

Nyonyi has gone to Liverpool and been given regular first team squad exposure in the cup. Perhaps us doing the same might have kept him here for longer.

For me we have to keep these players until they turn pro so that we can demand proper fees for them.

Monga was away on International duty for both of our cup games, so i'll give the club the benefit of the doubt. I'm hoping he makes an appearance in the FA Cup though!

Monga should be replacing bobby Reid if anyone had a clue what they were doing. Reid has offered absolutely nothing in the appearances he’s made, no doubt he’s on an enormous salary too. Reid will not be around in 18 months or sooner if cooper goes. Makes no sense not to have him on the bench if he’s showing this sort of level at his age in u21

we clearly need some improvement in the GK area in the youth. French and Basour are both very poor.

I like Cartwright, proper throw back centre mid, loves a challenge and has a good passing range

French and Basour are both highly rated. They are just kids.

Why write them off now?

Some people.....

cup game maybe.  he's still only 15 years old.  when's the last time a 15 year old played in premier league match or even a cup game?

I’ve watched keepers at this level for a while, they won’t make the grade unfortunately. Young keepers coming though has always been an issue. Last one of note being Oliver bosworth. Touted as the next best thing, academy player of the season twice, England u20,s and now can’t get a game in tier 9.

I believe there’s logistical complications about having to be in another dressing room too, so you can understand why it doesn’t happen too often.

Have you seen what we have in the younger ages? U14 have 2 very promising keeper prospects. Both very highly regarded in the academy. Looking forward to seeing their progress.

Well I'm glad everyone at the club doesn't share your view.

Interesting your choice of player and timing to try and prove your point.

You could look just a year or 2 before this and see we produced

Stolarczyk

Iverson And

Johansson

Hardly an issue.
