And now they’re taking a look at another. Liverpool right-back Keehan Barret-Underwood played half-hour for City’s Under-18s in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham a couple of weeks ago, as it looks like he has turned down an opportunity to continue his career on Merseyside.

Barret-Underwood’s appearance for City came just a few days after he had been in Florida after a call-up to the USA Under-17s training camp. He has previously represented England’s youth teams but appears to have switched allegiances and it could see him play at next year’s Under-17s World Cup.

With the first team.

Pointless him training with the first team when they won’t give him a chance in a game.

Massive mistake by the club not letting him go out on loan. Even to a league 2/ league 1 club. Better than him just sitting on the bench here.

Look at Brandon Cover for example. Ripping it up for port vale. And I’m sure IF he comes back here (and doesn’t sign on there) he’d be miles ahead of the stage he was at last summer pre-loan.

The kid isn’t even making the bench - at least if he was involved on match days then that would be good experience

Did someone mention his arm being in cast? Maybe he isn’t allowed to play games in a cast but club allowing him to train?

Didn't Cooper say no Clubs of the right calibre came in for him and so he thought he'd be better staying working eith the Squad.

Ruud has a track record of improving players, including youngsters. If RVN actually gives Alves a chance and he does well, AND we stay up this season, van Nistelrooy will be a very popular man here.

If RVN doesn’t promote him, would he be the 5th consecutive manager not to do so (excluding caretakers)?

Rodgers, Smith and Maresca couldn't play him because of the ACL (Maresca probs could have played him last game of last season) or being too young in Rodgers case. Cooper is the only one to have him available and ready and choose to not play him.

Alves is only 19.

Golding is 18.

Monga is 15.

People develop differently.

It’s one thing ripping it up playing against other teenagers. In the first team, they need to work on the physical side of his game and adapt to that.

I can imagine Alves had some suitors but after the ACL injury, does he really want to be playing on heavy pitches and getting lumps kicked out of him. It’s also about finding the right loans for people.

Nelson was getting on well at Oxford pre injury.

Marçal has been injured, so hasn’t really got started at De Graafschap. In fact I believe he’s been back at Seagrave.

Cannon is doing well at Stoke.

Braybrooke isn’t really playing at Dundee.

It’s not like we haven’t played youngsters this season.  Buonanotte is 19, Fatawu and El Khannous are 20, Kristensen is 21. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

He would’ve been involved under Enzo I think if not for injuries

We should be utilising the League and FA Cup games it's criminal that Alves only played 36 minutes across 3 league Cup games.

He should have at least had starts against Tranmere and Walsall.
