One thing I would say is that Cooper's replacement has to be someone whose preferred style matches what we had before Cooper.

A total switch-up would have made more sense in the summer where a decent manager could have had a whole summer and transfer window to rebuild. Even the January transfer window is going to give less than half that as it's traditionally a far quieter window.

Ideally therefore, we need a manager who wants possession players and can get the best out of Ricardo, Winks, Vardy, BEK and others. Graham Potter would have been a far better summer appointment but strikes me as a project manager more than a fixer.

With the state we're in, I would say the most sensible pair would either be David Moyes (who isn't an advocate of exciting football but is an experienced pragmatist who's been in this situation before and knows how to play to a team's strengths) or the longer term option of RVN who was great at PSV, knows the league and is capable of producing a team that plays to our strengths.

Pep better watch himself as he can't get a result to save his life. If he becomes available I might be willing to give him a go!

He would'nt be good enough for some on here.

He might have a point with it, though, especially as we should've had a penalty with the Mavididi incident and other things the referees didn't give in recent past games.

Wonder how many points the club lost after such controversial decisions this season.

he doesn't have a point though. ok, should have had a pen today, what about Ayews WWE audition at Southampton going unpunished which would have put us 3-1 down? or the foul at Ipswich to go 2-0 down

Peps lost 5 on the bounce.

Writings on the wall.

We should get him in.

But I reckon deep down, he's past it.

Honest.

The Ipswich one is a bit clutching at straws tbh because going by that logic Ipswich should’ve been down to 10 men in the first half after Phillips elbowed Buonanotte. The game would’ve then evolved very differently.

Don't know why SC is moaning about the ref. Ndidi could've had a red card. Nasty challenge. Maybe a few years ago it would've been OK but not so sure nowadays.

Unfortunately, we're kidding ourselves that he'll be sacked now. I just can't see it happening

Not after a defeat to Chelsea, no.

If you look at the results that did get managers sacked and the position we were in, it could be close though.

Rodgers: 2-1 defeat to Palace. 18th. (5th defeat in 6)

Puel: 4-1 defeat to Palace. 12th (5th defeat in 6)

Shakespeare (RIP): 1-1 draw with West Brom. 18th (winless in 6)

Ranieri: 2-1 defeat to Sevilla. 17th. (5 straight league defeats)

It seems that a combination of dropping into the bottom three, five or six games without a win and failing to beat a team we ought to be beating triggers the board into action based on recent history.

We're currently a point above the bottom three and winless in five. I suspect failure to beat either Brentford or West Ham sees him getting his P45.

Maybe another manager would do a bit better, but I honestly don't know where this notion that we're comfortably PL standard comes from. It's certainly not the 22/23 season. And it's certainly not the second half of the 23/24 season (at a lower level). And it can't be based on our summer transfer dealings either.

Many of these players aren't good enough. We have one right back and he isn't good enough. Two LBs and neither are good enough. None of the CBs have been good at this level, ever. Soumare and Ndidi weren't good enough in this league last time round in the centre, and I doubt they'll be revelations now. Skipp and Winks meanwhile have been up and down. Our wingers have been mostly poor, and the main right-sided option is out for the season. The star man is nearly 38. His deputies are proven failures at this level.

'We're comfortably good enough' just seems to be a thing that people say, based on no evidence whatsoever. Yes, Cooper is very, very questionable. But beating him with that stick kind of undermines the entire 'Cooper Out' argument. Which is, that with an admittedly very poor hand, he's still seriously struggling to make us competitive.

If you think the squad is that bad then it also kind of undermines the entire 'Cooper In' argument because in that case it is going to take a much better manager than him to keep it up, unless you think it's so awful that nobody attainable could hope to do so in which case we might as well have just not replaced Enzo at all and saved the money.

Do believe that the club wanted Potter, after the speculation about him possibly coming, until he turned it down and Cooper was the easiest option to get at the last moment.

I know this is very tongue in cheek by JimJams, but I had to smile at the thought of Pep driving down Aylestone Road trying to avoid the bus lane cameras.

The fact that Forest are where they are now without Cooper, and we are where we are with him, tells me all I need to know about his credentials.

Quite honestly, if you'd swapped managers for our game against Forest, I think we'd have won.

We aren't that far off.

You're kidding, right?

Do you mean swapping Cooper for Santo?

Bizarre.

He's just not very well liked here is he? I don't blame him for taking the job with us but his love for Forest certainly hasn't done him any favours with our fanbase.
