Don’t give them stupidly long contracts, on stupid wages. The club can totally be blamed for it, Vestergaard won’t go because no one is stupid enough to pay him £70 odd bags a week for five odd years.

It’s piss poor management of player contracts.

But in the case of Tielemans, what was the solution?

knew Watkins wouldn't be happy about that.

Surprised he has came out with that lol

Nice to actually get a bit of personality in front of the cameras instead of the usual clichés.

Aston Villa also another good example of how not doing anything in January generally is an excuse, one that was often made here.

They brought in Rashford, Malen, Asensio and Disasi?

Unless I'm getting your point wrong.

I never really understand what people think a club is meant to do when a player runs down their contract and leaves on a free. The club is awful in many ways but they don’t have much power in that situation if that’s what a player decides to do.

If the player is a first team regular, and won’t sign at 24 months, you sell

October 2021 first rejected. He told the club he wasn’t signing but rudders thought he would turn his head, which he clearly wasn’t going to do!

Also be prepared to accept a reasonable fee rather than think you can negotiate world record fees for every player we sell.

I agree to an extent. The club and the majority of the fans deserve everything coming to them. But just not Forest being overly successful

I don't know how Forest passing us hasn't pissed more off. Reminds me of the way United fans just shrug their shoulders as Man City and Liverpool hoover up all the trophies.

Fanbase full of cucks

Its hilarious because “Don’t care about us FC” can’t stand the fact we won the league and cup

They hated every single second. It was glorious.

But selling requires a club to be willing to buy at a reasonable price, and the player being willing to go to that club. Tielemans had two years left on his contract in the summer of 2021, when clubs had been hit by COVID and transfer activity was very low.

We need to learn not to dish out massive contracts, we should have sold Tielemans after the FA cup win. I totally agree it’s a difficult situation, but we’ve just got to hand out shorter contracts and odd release clauses into some of them. Otherwise you end up in this mess.

Sell while you can. He'd absolutely have had takers in 2021.

I get the general point but I think in this case, it’s tough to accept say £30m for him in 2021, when you’re probably spending that and more on a replacement (and it’s tough to get someone of that level) - I’m not sure if £30m in 2021 was more beneficial than two more seasons of a fantastic player, albeit he obviously phoned it in for a fair chunk of 22/23 which doesn’t help my argument.

Ended up at the London Stadium for their game today, lots of toxicity towards their players and Potter. Really unhappy fan base just waiting for the season to end- awful game

I was in their end for our game there and it was as passive and disinterested as you can imagine for a team winning comfortably at home. Albeit our total lack of intensity didn’t help.

Well they basically drove out a manager who had them competitive in the top 8-10 and in Europe so are the fans ever going to be happy ?

Cash in at £60m after the FA cup and moan about how our best players get poached for rock bottom fees.

Yeah you've got it the wrong way around. I'm saying they did very good business in January - so often it was treated on here like it was some impossible job.

Villa and Forest to be fair to them have gone out and got it. Our MO has been do nothing and hope it fixes itself. Forest signing Keylor Navas, January 2023 while we let Ward throw in 3 goals every weekend was a massive warning shot.

That's the one that stung. We were in a far better position than them at the time and our goalkeeping problems were painfully obvious.

I honestly think that we'd have survived with something to spare with Navas in goal and Forest gone down with hilariously awful money troubles.

Yep, sliding doors moment. This is what I mean when I think you get what you deserve most of the time. Their issues in goal were nowhere near as big as ours and they did something about it while we stood still. Our board get everything they deserve.
