Yeah I get that but 5 from England is ridiculous. It's hardly a champions league. And we have gained an extra spot due to performance in the competition I believe. So why does another team benefit from that ?? It's a ridiculous rule.

I actually don't agree with five teams from one country. As mentioned earlier on the thread, I'd have a hard cap of four.

If that means the top two, a Europa League winner in 10th and a Champions League winner in 5th, then so be it. They'd deserve it more than the teams in third or fourth who'd won nowt.

Absolutely. At least the Europa League teams have actually won something to get there. Finishing four places and twenty odd points off behind the champions shouldn't put you in the same competition imo.

I'd go further and cap it at four - if that means only the top two qualify along with the Europa League winner and a Champions League winner who don't finish in the top two bump out third and fourth, so be it. It makes the Europa League more attractive.

The thing should not be called The Champions League. Champions and Others League?

The problem with it being champions only is that you'll end up with very few competitive games a season. Barcelona v Liverpool in one game, FK Zalgris v Lincoln Red Imps in another. You'd end up with the Europa League being a better competition.

Palace winning the FA Cup means Forest in UECL, but it also means LCFC’s win looks a touch less incredible

Hmmm.

Hmmm.

Not really, the likes of Wigan and Portsmouth have won it in recent (ish) memory, who were less fancied than us.

What it might mean is that Palace need to worry about relegation as it seems a curse for anyone outside the usual suspects.

If Spurs win the whatever it is this year cup and get into the Champions (really??) League, I can only imagine the catastrophic damage they will do to the ****ing coefficient.  The odds are against a Spurs win, but are Harry won something this year so I think it may be inevitable. Because that's how football works.

edit to make it relevant to the PL thread.

In the old days of a slightly fairer league system this Spurs side (and most likely Man U) would have been relegated.

Man City are pretty woeful in comparison to their usual standards

Said it last week, I don't know when it ever became this acceptable to be this bad in the league just because you're in Europe. I know there's normally a natural drop off but the pair of them are a disgrace. It's the worst level final since Portsmouth Cardiff in the FA Cup and honestly Portsmouth were probably better than both of these two have been.

Bilbao fans should be on Rudkin's case as well. I don't think if we'd actually made a proper attempt this season that United would've gotten away with this showing in the league and they might've not been able to put as much into Europe.

I mean even Spurs last week - absolutely ragged all over the place by Palace. This is a Palace side also in a cup final. It's a quite fascinating final in a way - whoever loses has had an absolutely catastrophic season.

Also Forest. Genuinely incredible - they looked absolutely nailed on about six weeks ago and there's now a real chance they're mathematically out of the CL race with a game to go. Genuinely an even worse collapse than ours, given they had the luxury of an extra place to get.

Hojlund as well is possibly the worst Premier League transfer of all time. It was mental how much they paid anyway for a bloke who scored 9 times in an Atalanta side who seem to be able to get virtually anybody firing 15+. He's absolutely garbage.

His movement is so bad. He’s either offside or nowhere near close enough to the last man to break the line, never in the right place.

Thing is with good strikers is that they keep putting themselves in the right positions to make amends if they miss chances. Hojlund doesn’t even get the opportunity to miss the chances because he’s not in the right spot.

His xG this season must be so low for a 9 that has played as many games as he has.

Nine years of coping with our Premier League win by calling us a one season wonder only to end up as a 0.75 season wonder is wild.

Ayew has played the same amount of games and had marginally better stats than Hojlund. Says it all really.

Hmmm.

Us winning the FA Cup wasn't that much of a shock in 2021. We went in as slight underdogs perhaps, but had matched Chelsea stride for stride in the Premier League that season and were very much perceived as a dark horse for silverware each season.

Hmmm.

So if Palace win they will be in the Europa league and 7th drops down to the ECL with 8th missing out altogether?

Everton think they can become a serious club playing at the Hill Dickinson stadium. What an absolute abomination 😂

£10m per season apparently being paid by a business that turns over £140m.  Seems legit !

I think the fans and eventually pundits will call it Bramley-Moore very much like Southampton has become known as St Mary's even after having a sponsor's officially name it.

Shame that we didn't stick with Freeman's Wharf as it was known when under construction before Walkers got involved.

profit last year was 58m before the members took their cut - value of the business is 50m.

That’s a hefty chunk of turnover/profit to spend on becoming a clubs sponsor, something very iffy here, wonder if they are the clubs official legal advisor/partner
