All this offside corruption, incompetence, unconscious bias stuff has over shadowed the 2-footed challenge by Ugarte on Winks. Obvious red card, wasn't it, eventhough he luckily missed him :dunno: Don't think that one of ours would've got away with that. Imagine if that was done to an Arsenal player!

I agree but then what if this was the last game of the season and we needed a point to stay up ???

Well that is why they asked for VAR I guess to avoid such situations .

Presumably the goal would have been ruled out?

Yes - this is why all the  owners (apart from Forest and wolves) are full square behind var

and of course it would

It's shit that's why. And if VAR didn't exist this lino flags for offside imo.. They've become lazy and even more cowardly because of VAR.

Did you watch many games at old Trafford pre-var?

I hate VAR that much - no scenario will change my view on that

I agree - maybe once fit for purpose, auto offsides can be used like goal line tech and we can dispense with var as we currently have it ??

If auto offside can one day be as quick as goal line technology then that would be great.

The video replay system is run by the same corrupted incompetent people but at least one mile offsides like this are called via VAR. Technology isn't the issue, people using it are the problem alongside the unclear stupid new rules for handball, offside etc.

Why?

because VAR ruins the immediacy for the fans at the ground (and to a lesser extent on the telly as well)

I get why other people want VAR, but I dont. I also realise I'm pissing into the wind here.

TBF I don’t get why people say they don’t celebrate  instantly as they certainly seem to from what I see.

The players particularly still do their dancing and running around going mad occasionally .

Sure must be frustrating to do all that then see the goal ruled out for something minor .

To be fair, there has been less of it this season as there has been more focus on sticking with the on field decision. This has actually led to the problem in reverse where a number of times i've felt a decision should have been overruled but hasn't as they have kept with the refs call. At the time these were painful but in reality i would sooner that happened.

And we actually got that amazing moment when Vardy's goal vs West Ham was given. Lino put the flag up immediately so no one celebrated at the time.

I support VAR but actually only want it used for 'absolute' decisions quickly. I'm less interested in challenges being slowed down and reviewed from every angle and really just want the automated offsides and goal line tech. I never want to see the theatre of the 'lines being drawn' ever again.  I would happily support retrospective punishments for onfield decisions missed (how about a 1 game ban for Ugarte - he wouldn't be doing that again if that happened).

Needing a point to stay up on the last day of the season would be a dream.

"Semi-Automated Offside Technology will provide more efficient placement of the virtual offside line, based on optical player tracking, and produce virtual graphics to ensure an enhanced in-stadium and broadcast experience for supporters," the FA said.

What part of the players body is being tracked and used for this, I'm sure it can't be the leather on their toecaps.

oh and more great news

also where is the apology from the pgmol?

Should it be successful?

Are they ****ing kidding? It's been used in the Champions League, World Cup and European Championships.

We've got technology that actually works and works quick(other than the Haaland decision)

Should it be successful what an actual joke 😂😂

It’s not the same as those though Ashley.  They all use adidas which has a chip in the ball to establish exactly when the ball is struck and to freeze the 3D imaging. (Patented tech)
PL has Nike balls, fa cup is mitre -  so I assume that the var still has to pinpoint the frame that the ball is struck and the tech then takes over from there. Not as accurate and will take longer. Imo it’s bollux because the freeze frame is unreliable and the 3D tech will give offside for a mm.   So whilst we have quicker decisions (not as quick as those comps you mentioned) I am certain we’ll have incorrect decisions based on the freeze being inaccurate.

Fair enough but it's actually bollocks that the technology isn't readily available. Should be used across all manufacturers.

Thats business

fair play  to adidas

the next PL ball deal should end up being adidas but I bet that Nike give the PL a brilliant deal to keep it with them and we will suffer second class offside calls as a consequence

it’s the PGMOL, FA & EPL they implement these aids that are supposed to take out the cheating or dodgy decisions but they have the same dodgy officials making the same Bullschitt dodgy decisions taking control of VAR and getting it totally wrong, I’m all for VAR if it is used correctly but these incompetent Tw@y W️s have not a clue how to use the system to its potential!

Another one that bowed down to a big 6 club. Fell for it every time when they got touched and they were whinging like little bitches. Even gave them a free kick because their fans screamed for it. Not booking Partey for clearing out Vardy on a break but books Ayew for the same thing.

Not booking Partey was the only stand out for me, thought he was giving soft fouls both ways
