Their fans genuinely, without a hint of irony, think their club is one of the biggest eight clubs in the country and globally recognised. Realistically, the club is no bigger than its East Midlands neighbour and certainly nowhere near the likes of any of the big names from London, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle or even Birmingham.

And their desperation for this to be the case is palpable. 'World-famous City Ground' and all that.

Unbelievable what they achieved under Cloughie but it was down to a generational manager rather than club size. Similar to Ipswich's successes.

Yeh I think the successes of the Clough years left a lot of delusional folk in their fanbase. Our own fall from grace came soon enough that we tend not to be so delusional. At least I hope we don't, I haven't heard our fans talk of the world-famous KP stadium.

Undoubtedly the weirdest fan base.

Plus, they don't do pain. They don't do defeat. If they lose,.or get relegated,.or whumped 9-0, they just consider it as all part of the forest masterplan. And happily slink off to the ice rink to start chatting about the oldest pub in the world and Paul Smith.

Edit; like when Wes joined us. A mate of mine was delighted.. genuinely delighted, as he considered some fella called Michael Mancienne better...it was like 'yet another good decision by us!'

I'd love to know what makes them think anyone round the world knows the City Ground.

Apparently the club started the world famous line as a marketing ploy when they were struggling to get fans through the gate for midweek games against Cheltenham and Port Vale.

Since then, their fans have just run with it because they genuinely believe the City Ground is up there with Old Trafford and the Bernabeu in international attention.

Winning the old European Cup (not the Champions League) was easier than winning the FA Cup in those days. Winning the First Division was the hard part (which they didn't manage for the second time). English clubs won the European Cup 7 out of 8 seasons during that period. Clough never won the FA Cup.

NottsF fans love it when you tell them that.

In reality, there is no reason for any football fan outside of the UK aged under 50 to see them as anything other than a relatively recently promoted club who make up the numbers in the Premier League.

The recency of our success makes us far more well-known to fans around the world below that age, especially given the iconic nature of our 2016 Premier League title.

Forest fans don't like being told that either.

Sounds about right. I struggle to think of anything similar from an English club in an official capacity... Liverpool's ridiculous 'this means more' tagine the only thing which springs to mind.

10pm on Friday and Big Stevie Cooper is doing the fist pump thing to the kop after demolishing the red scum 4-0

Is it sad that i'm wanting the little fist pump thing to become a thing? That alone would go a long way to connect fans and manager.

People call it tin pot but i think they just have PTSD from seeing so many away managers do it to their end down the KP over recent years - the ones that didn't leave after 75 minutes in home defeats that is. Think they're just jealous to be honest. lol

We've not had a single manager who does it down the years. Pearson might have raised his fist now and again but nothing more, and even Enzo despite coming over to the Kop after every game didn't indulge in the theatrics.

Going to be a very Tasty fixture especially following the sanctions and fines put on Florist Nuno & their owner, can see us winning this if Blooper puts out most of the 11 that ended the game with Southampton and give a display like the 2nd half so heart says 2-1 city head says 1-1; But really hope we go out and play a heart felt game and not allow florist to Boss us about this is where Blooper must show his so called football genius and put out a team to  demolish the florists and send them home with their branches between their legs !!

COYF🦊

You are getting rather boring now .

Calling him Blooper the first time was not funny and it's still not now.

Just childish.

I think the KP is better known around the world than the City Ground in 2024. It's been exposed to the global PL audience far longer, and things both good and bad have happened there in recent history - the EPL win of course, but also the UCL run, the helicopter tragedy and plenty of crazy games in the hyper-saturated modern era. For Forest on the other hand, you have to turn the clock back to a time when the likes of Gary Numan, Rubix Cubes and Jimmy Saville were culturally relevant.

Manchester United used to push that "theatre of dreams" slogan. Or maybe it was just the television presenters. In any case we don't hear that so much in recent years.

No I won't but I'll be in the pub. But hey ho I did my time home and away when people didn't want to go. Stood in Filbert St with 7k others. Away games with 500 others.

It's easy to be a fan after a prem title n fa cup win.
