Sad news. I met Nev a few times during his time at RL. Salt of the earth. No airs and graces. Lovely chap, and of course LCFC broadcasting legend.

Rest in Peace.

Neville Foulger and John Sinclair were the greats. Miles better than what RL turn out now.

I grew up listening to them. When I started going to games I would listen to them in the car on the way home.

RIP Neville.

One of Nev's most common sayings was "well, you have to say..."

I recall listening to a dismal performance away to Oldham in the early 90s and Nev went, "well...you have to say, City...." followed by a despairing groan and trailing off into a resigned, disbelieving, speechless silence. We were so shit, words failed him. I wish that would happen to some of those goons on the match day thread.

Always came across as a thoroughly decent bloke and for years the voice of away games that I couldn't get to whilst at University.

Lost count how many times he had me leaping out my chair with commentary like, 'He's through on goal, he must score' only for it not to be so. :doh:lol

RIP

I used to remember the goal horm sound on the radio just before he came on.  They would say a goal has been scored and youd be in your chair praying the horn sounded first before Neville came on!

Do they still use that horn sound today?  I havent tuned in to RL for years!

Great days. Usually commentary on tigers on RL, but you’d hear a little tapping sound on the mic so you knew there’d been a goal in the LCFC game and two seconds later the commentators handed over to the football, unfortunately in those days 8 times out of 10 it was for the opposition 🤣
