FoxinNotts Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan with an option, to fill the Wilf shaped hole?

I mean, tbf all we really need from Wilf's replacement is a destroyer/ball winner with a physical presence and a good pressing game, to win the ball and then play it simple. Easiest role on the pitch. Just needs athleticism.
LVFox Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Frederik Hammar from Mechelen. Played under Cifuentes at Hammarby, 24 years old, where he was the single pivot 6, not progressive on the ball but steady, far more impressive off the ball. Also a bit of a leader....actually, a bit of a ****! Needed. 2
Tommy Fresh Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Ever since suggesting him and looking in to him a bit more I really want Brice Ambina
fkas Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Do we need to replace Wilf if/when he goes? Soumare, Skipp, Winks, Choudhury and Braybrooke are still all under contract. We know Winks was very good at Championship level previously. We'd need to recruit again if we got promoted but at this level with severe limitations on what business we can do. We could probably make do and spend what funds we can spare on a striker.

We need a replacement for the role Ndidi played two years ago for us and how Cifuentes sets his teams up with one sitting DCM and then two 8's. None of the midfielders we have bar El Khannouss would be considered box to box so yes we do.
kingfox Posted 6 August 2025 Posted 6 August 2025 Bournemouth will probably just snap him up, but if not, another shout for the box-to-box role

Cifuentes might also look to adapt some current players, Maresca did somewhat reinvent Ndidi for instance.

Not saying Ndidi isn’t a loss but I thought Cifuentes used a double pivot with two number 6’s and a number 10 rather than the single pivot and 2 number 8’s that was Enzo ball?

Jazzy_Jeff Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 8 hours ago, Ric Flair said: Nope, does not look that way to me. From Sundays game it looked to me like there is an element of flexibility in midfield. At times we saw Skipp pressing high and making runs to create space with BEK dropping deeper. Soumare seemed to be the more disciplined however there were instances when he pressed and Skipp sat. We will definitely need another one in if Ndidi goes and I would imagine their profile would need to me more of an 8 than a 6. 2

LVFox Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 I think Skipp is that box to box role at the moment. He’s been getting tactically better and better with each pre season game. We could probably do with another body in for that role though (Is Louis Page defensively good enough for this?). I like Markus Karlsson at Hammarby and Oliver Sorensen at Midtylland, although the latter, whilst fully ready, may be too left sided to play our specific role. Closer to home I think Charlie Webster at Burton is on the cusp of a breakout season. If we have the money ,I’d go all in on Caleb Yirenkyi at Nordsjaelland who’s easily going to be a £30m+ player in the next 4-5 years. Great engine, brilliant ball winner but can also effect games going forward. 2
kingfox Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Would be gutted if BEK left, but looking around for a potential replacement, he could get better suitors, but Tobias Gulliksen at Djurgarden would be absolutely perfect. Has been playing as a CAM, but very much like BEK, he can drift into wide areas. He has a better burst of pace than BEK, that would also make him suitable to play as a winger if needs be. As this article states, he likes to drop into half-spaces, contributes to third-man patterns and is a tenacious presser. Everything we’ve seen under Marti ball, making Gulliksen the ideal fit if BEK does go. https://the-footballanalyst.com/tobias-gulliksen-player-analysis/#:~:text=On the ball%2C Gulliksen plays,a creator and a finisher. 3

Really good shout. I’m a huge fan of their left back Keita Kosugi, if we ended up being able to get VK, JJ and Coulibaly out the door I’d be all over him. 1

He’s been getting rave reviews from a few “scout” accounts that I follow. Like Gulliksen, very likely he ends up at a better suitor, but if we can shift some of the names you mentioned out the door, he’d definitely be high up on my list too.
Scotch Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 (edited) That Nobel Mendy lad that Rangers are looking at signing looks some players. If we are indeed seriously looking at Callum Doyle, I would much prefer we hijack this deal. He's bigger, faster, younger, would cost half the price and some of those passes out of defence are majestic. https://youtu.be/Kdt18kHh0T4?si=OYd6fQtp-2VURwdU Edited 7 August 2025 by Scotch
JimJams Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Dabble! That video is way off the market value. Are Betis in financial trouble?
foxfanazer Posted 7 August 2025 Posted 7 August 2025 Marcelino Nunez please. Absolutely no chance though 1
