Thing is, Winks, Skip, Ndidi and Soumare is an expensive selection. If we cant shift any of them, they're playing. We cant afford to pay them not to play.

We need to be shipping Ndidi. Great servant but if we can get a fee for him before he shuffles off for nothing we need to jump on. One of those players that seems to get linked away every window but stays.

Our current options (assuming BEK leaves) have zero creativity or goals in them. I reckon between our strikers and wingers we can get a decent, but not great, number of goals so need some from midfield. Set pieces is another option but I won’t hold my breath! 1

That's the problem isn't it. The list of midfielders who player centrally we have dont offer goals, or too much defensive work overall.
kingpowerout Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 Our current central midfield is awful. It’s not athletic, it lacks pace, it lacks height, it lacks technical skills - this is our biggest problem area IMO (even over strikers). if we can somehow keep him I’d be playing BEK slightly deeper and get him on the ball in the middle of the park - that is unless we manage to clear out the likes of N’didi, Winks and Soumare and can re-invest 2

Somehow maresca made ndidi an effective attacking midfielder. If he can reproduce that form up front we should keep him. I just can't see it.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 If they end up staying beyond 1st Sept, Soumare and Winks are playing for their futures. No-one is going to want them if they can’t perform at championship level Ndidi is Ndidi - wouldn’t be desperate to sell him but wouldn’t be disappointed if he went Torn on Skipp, would be interested in seeing how he does with a run of games and some confidence

As the 19-year-old continues to grow, it remains to be seen which specific midfield role he will settle into. However, with his exceptional game-reading skills, physical strength, intensity, and poise on the ball, a box-to-box midfielder role could be a perfect fit. Gerrimin! 3
Scotch Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 It would take reported just under £10m to secure Richard Kone and Lennon Miller. Both fit our system and see a return to buying young and cheap. 2
JimJams Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 Miller would be great, but surely they'll want £10mill for him alone. 1

Sold Dorgeles to Braga didn't they, so whether they'd hold off selling for another season, even though they're a selling club.
Tielemans63 Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 Unpopular opinion after the Ricardo incident, however Tyler Morton is available for around £8m. Would be a very good addition at this level. 1
Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 I wonder if El Khannouss goes and a few others players that Cifuentes might target his fellow compatriot Oscar Rodriguez who's available on a free. Still only 27, he's not hit the heights expected of him when he was playing for the Spanish national side age 21/22 but he had a half decent season last year in La Liga for Leganes. Could do a lot worse. https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/oscar-rodriguezs-sensational-return-to-leganes/ 1

I've heard £4m all the way up to £7.5 but you've got to understand what £5m would mean to Motherwell. They simply CAN'T afford to turn that down unless they are absolutely certain someone will beat that offer. £5m and a sell on would get him.

I think he's left-footed too which offers good balance. Pre-season to actual competitive games is a big step-up though but really hope the lad can take any opportunities
les-tah Posted 31 July 2025 Posted 31 July 2025 (edited) Soumare and ndidi go Brownhill Free Toby Collyer Loan (just seen they want to send him out) Marc Guiu Loan all improve our starting 11 whilst still making psr profit. Edited 31 July 2025 by les-tah 2
