Context, he’s impossible to sell if we don’t have a replacement for him is where RVN was going What that tweet doesn’t mention: For van Nistelrooy, it was never going to happen, especially not without any players arriving. The Dutchman has been keen on a new winger since he first arrived at the club, in order to replace the injured Abdul Fatawu, so was not going to further weaken his options by letting McAteer go. The manager said last week: “One thing for me that was very clear was that nobody was going out until there’s anybody in. I’m sure we can all understand it. I’m looking to bring players in to strengthen the squad, not for players to leave. That was, for me, unthinkable.” 4

Cannon and Hamza have gone without being replaced, along with a host of youngsters going out on loan.

Will Alves is a young lad who needs minutes, needs to play, will be a better player when he comes back in the summer.” Doesn't mention Cannon but assume with Vardy, Daka & dare I say Eduardo ahead of him he was deemed surplus to requirement, so cashed in. For the wing positions he only sees Mavadidi, McAteer, BDCR & Ayew & in the absence of getting a new winger in I’d expect McAteer to be getting a bit of game time up to the end if the season 1

But whatever way you look at it our squad is piss poor for PL level. It was always going to be difficult to stay up but we've sealed our relegation fate by not getting at least a couple of additions to strengthen the squad. 3
JimJams Posted 11 February 2025 Posted 11 February 2025 He doesn't need to mention Cannon because he hasn't been part of the squad this season so he can't be missed. Ironic cos he misses a lot.

Championship quality 6 goals in 23 one every 190 mins in the championship, Your favourite player at the time only averaged a goal every 150mins and he was playing as striker
Clever Fox Posted 14 February 2025 Posted 14 February 2025 We should have taken the money but he's here now until the Summer. If Iwasd him I'd be busting a gut to show waht I can do between now and the Summer. I think he just needs to toughen up a bit and move a bit quicker, Then he'll have a decent career in the game.

JJD_LCFC Posted 15 February 2025 Posted 15 February 2025 Another poor decision to turn down a decent offer. The money would have been great for us on a PSR scale as he is a local lad. But ability wise Kasey is no way near good enough to start / play. Not even on the bench for the Arsenal game. And we had 2 wide players on the bench already. We seem to retain far too many players who offer limited return. 2
CrispinLA in Texas Posted 15 February 2025 Posted 15 February 2025 He's very lightweight and looks like a kid playing 1
filbertway Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 He's probably got the tools to be an effective league two or league one player. Having a purple patch for one of the most dominant teams in the championship doesn't make him a championship player though. Need to see far more evidence before I'm convinced he'd be anymore than a solid workhorse that's willing to do a job for the team above league one level. 1

It means he helped contribute to our dominance when he played well.

Unfortunately you have to think PSR and he's worth much more to us gone at £7m or £10m or what ever ludicrous figure whoever were going to pay us
indierich06 Posted 19 February 2025 Posted 19 February 2025 Given how much McAteer actually plays, we'd have been better off just selling him and sticking Alves on the bench. McAteer does less than nothing for us. 1
Bergen fox Posted 22 February 2025 Posted 22 February 2025 Clueless club not selling him this guy is bang average 1
CrazyKopCorner Posted 23 February 2025 Posted 23 February 2025 15 hours ago, Bergen fox said: Clueless club not selling him this guy is bang average Baffling Generally if you think well any sane club would do that then Leicester will do the exact opposite. Made total sense from a revenue, PSR, squad development etc perspective to get shot of this donut but no Leicester hold on to him and then he doesn't even make the bench. Astoundingly inept as usual 4
studentofthegame Posted 26 February 2025 Posted 26 February 2025 Played about 350 minutes in the league all season, last started December 14th, hasn't played a minute since rejecting the bid and hasn't even made the bench in the last 2 games Club is clueless in so many aspects it's beyond a joke
James_lcfc Posted 26 February 2025 Posted 26 February 2025 We would've sold him at that price if it was a straight deal. They obviously didn't fancy it being dependent on Sunderland getting promoted, which is unlikely. I'd argue a loan with possible £10m at the end would have been worth the gamble anyway, but that's me!
LCFCCKEANO Posted 27 February 2025 Posted 27 February 2025 What a silly choice rejecting this was, at worst we’d lose a player I don’t see making any impact for us even in the championship and at best we have him back with more first team experience, better than him rotting in the ressies

Genuinely he has done well to get to where he has done in his career considering his struggles on loan before his breakout but he has only looked good in a dominant championshop winning team. We would be laughing at any 7 figure fee really if we were a decently run club. 1
