The maddest thing is that I'm starting to think we could still sneak into the playoffs even if we get an 8-10 point deduction.

It'll be tight but the league's so ridiculously congested, all we'd have to do is put together a bit of a run, 4 or 5 wins in a row maybe, and we'd chew through the difference and start to leapfrog teams again. We've just managed 7/9 even with our Jekyll and Hyde 45 minute performances, 4 of those coming against playoff contenders.

It's LCFC so I'm not doubting our ability to go on another losing streak that puts it to bed, but at the very least the past few weeks have calmed my nerves about a relegation battle. We'll be mid-table at worst now the right players are getting the minutes.

I can't see it with a deduction, without it I think we'd have an outside chance. I remain to be fully convinced though because if we went and lost in a poor performance at QPR on Saturday nobody would be truly surprised. I think I can only really believe it until we start putting in consistently decent performances, particularly given we're playing catchup.

I will have to concede I got Preston completely wrong this season, They've surprised me a lot. Still not totally sold they finish in the top six though.

It's preferable to get promoted than not but I can't say I'd shed many tears if we didn't. I think our best chance of not beating Derby's record would be if Wolves got there first.

Said this on a different thread but to overturn a 3 + 6-9 point deficit with 25 games to go would require 2 points per game average and that is a tall order.

Win 2 loose 1 doesn’t feel too unreasonable

Purely from a fans perspective and not the financial side I just don’t see the point in going up and stinking the place out again. I have no interest in that.

But then that’s just me and get that might sound ridiculous

I suppose the hope is you pull a Sunderland and go big in the transfer market to success.  They would have been tragic had they stayed with the squad that went up.

The beauty of the playoffs is it’s quite common for a team (sometimes two) who have struggled up to Christmas and looked well out of it. To hit a bit of form post Jan and scrape in.

This league has too many games. Even with the (expected) points deduction there is plenty to play for- it’s our inconsistent form we need to sort. Currently filled with optimism, have we turned that corner ? Is it time for a run ? All followed by a draw v qpr and loss in the next one. We need to be the team to beat from now until May. I don’t know if we can do that.

in terms of going up ? Yeah, with Faes, Winks, Soumare etc. starting - I couldn’t get behind them. With James, Nelson, this version of Skipp, Mavididi, Fatawu, Reid Riccy P etc. there’s a base there and team to get behind. We just need Okoli and/or Souttar to push out Vestegaard. Aluko for Thomas. Get the effort in and what’s not to like with that.

Too many teams in the second, third and fourth tiers. All three divisions should be cut to 20.

Why? We’re the paying public, the more games the better. Used to hate waiting weeks for a game in the prem at times.

I don’t know if I agree with that. The lower leagues have no option of European football. The playoffs and extra games are a lifeblood for many clubs. 3 game weeks are very enjoyable as a fan (when you’re in form).

It gives a completely different feel to a PL season when you’re 18/19 games in and still warming up.

We'd still arguably need 45-50 points from our final 25 games if we get a 6-9 point deduction. Just don't see it.

For me, the national league is so strong that could be made into the football league/a fifth division. And each division 20 clubs.

There's too many midweek games in the football league. I didn't talk about removing the play offs.

Championship winning form. The start and the inconsistent form up until now has absolutely hindered us. Getting to the playoffs does mean we do have to be the team to beat from now (with a points deduction). Acheivable but an ask (not going to make a big ask until we lose to QPR on sat)

They're in such a mess and desperate that even mike ashley owning them sounds like a decent idea.

Mike Ashley would be fine for the vast majority of professional clubs. He is a good business man and at least understands football. Yes he didn’t invest in Newcastle to anywhere near the level their fans wanted but generally, he would offer stability in that he won’t take on something that doesn’t make decent business sense. For Wednesday and what they have gone through, they’ll be relatively happy for some stability.

Why has the Swansea manager got the Deathrow logo on his top ?? Has Swansea been bought by Suge Knight #westside

I thought that.  Very odd.
