This is quite an insightful thread. If there is even a line, it is a very fine one between 'you only sing when you're winning' and 'glory hunter' and 'well I don't like we lose a lot and I don't like the board so I am not renewing my season ticket'. Am I missing something or am I being harsh?

Yes.

I might be the only one, but, I believe the club pressure renewals early, before the squad has been "refreshed," leaving the possibility (This season?) of buying a ticket to follow an inferior squad, below the standard to be competitive whatever division we are in.

Can see the renewal campaign starting next month, and we support a club to be entertained and excited (not win every game), which hasn't happened yet.....I know dozens who are considering what to do next season...if (when) we are relegated, most matches will be Friday night, Saturday lunchtime or Monday night.....

I have to admit, the pricing for existing ST holders (over renewing a few years on) is what keeps me there.....almost to the point of buying one, and going when it fits.....admittedly not ideal for me or the club......

It'll be my 23rd year, and I have to say for the first time I'm torn.

Part of me will be more eager to renew if we go down as its more likely we'll get the refresh that we desperately need. Its a more competitive league, anyone can beat anyone and not a closed shop to the top 6. The football is also more exciting to watch than Pep-ball.

Kick off times are better aswell (although with more Champ games on sky now, this will change no doubt)

But I'm just a bit out of love with it at the moment. In all honesty, if I renew it will mainly be because I don't want to lose my seat as I know I'll want back in after a year out. But going to games currently because I feel I have to is a proper drain. And thats aimed at fans as well as the board.

A lot of the comments you see/hear not only at the ground but also on here, as someone who likes to just watch the football and keep my counsel, you feel pretty unwanted in your own stadium as apparently if you're not effing, jeffing and constantly getting on everyone's backs, you're not a proper fan.

I get the frustrations, and wouldn't dream of telling anyone they should or shouldn't express it how they feel, but when the best effort is a repetitive chant of "rudkins a c**t" I find myself lost for words, and frankly not really wanting to be there.

Based on this thread people are buying season tickets but not bothered about going to games and will just go occasionally when they seem it worth their time.

Not something I thought was possible but the atmosphere will be even worse.

Denying new blood a chance of a ST and not turning up is a bit selfish imo.

I for one renewed my season ticket on the basis of having a competently run football club who keep their supporters informed.  We are being totally mismanaged and arguably have a worse squad now than when we get promoted.  You quote "denying new blood" I am confident many will not be denied next season as many of the, as you put it, "selfish" fans will not renew due to many reasons including incompetence from Top (literally) to bottom (aka Rudkin).  If I am being selfish choosing not to put myself through a 600 mile round trip, spending over £300 on top of my ticket because I feel we as a club have lost our soul then so be it.

Very informative! 😄

If you're invested in the club right now and can't fathom why an increasing proportion of our supporter base is getting disillusioned and alienated, I'm not sure what to say.

Has VAR been confirmed in the Championship next season? If it has then that is another reason to not go.

I've already made my mind up, i;m not bothering (treated my self to a new bike instead!) but VAR will probably be the nail in the coffin to if i even bother turning in at all.

Not a member this season, oddly relegation would usually entice me in more, but I've just reached the point where, until I see changes made, I don't want the football club getting any more of my money. Had a walk around the club shop in Highcross today and the prices are just utterly ridiculous.  We aren't alone I know, but it just turns you against the club further

Suspect next season prices for ST and match day tickets will be on the board meeting agenda this month, it will be league dependent (if a miracle happens) but I would be staggered if they put the prices up for ST next year when we go down. Nothing surprises me from the club, so who knows.

What the club might do, as other Premier League clubs have already done, is to either abolish age / senior concessionary ticket prices altogether,  or to limit concessionary price admission to particular areas of the stadium - in West Ham's case, to the less popular and less accessible areas.

Can't imagine them doing that here if we're relegated - but who knows and what effect would that have on season ticket renewals? - but if we do manage to stay up I can very much see that happening.

But anyway, I've already decided not to renew without there being drastic boardroom / management changes, none of which will happen

They will never take any action that appears to forcibly move anyone from *their* seat. The last time they did it absolutely terrified them.

I think they’ll put them up. It’ll be the last season for a long time they’ll have any sort of waiting list for a ST, so they’ll cash in without doubt.

Nah, can't see it, that will really light the blue touchpaper.

At the moment the discontent is coz we're crap and no direction or admission is being communicated.

Financial knockbacks/increases, will really increase the groundswell and unhappiness.

They can have mine back if they do.

I'll more than likely re-new if we are in the championship. It's got to the point now that I absolutely detest the prem. I cannot stand it and I have no interest in forking out to watch my club struggle to stay in it. It's a joke of league now.

I'll start this off by saying that I've had a season ticket for years - I just about decided to renew this season as I go with my old man, but definitely not bothering next season. It felt like a 'rather not lose it' than 'I want to keep it' decision.

But it's not the losing that's tipped me over the edge, though. I sat there as a kid through some absolute garbage - Holloway, Levein, Megson, I even just about remember Taylor. But it's actually modern football itself that's the problem. I absolutely detest VAR, the sh*te music before the game, the clappers (which is a pitiful attempt to generate some sort of atmosphere) & the overall match day 'experience' - it just doesn't appeal to me, and I'm not sure it's meant to either. It's slowly got to me over the last few years, with my enthusiasm dwindling more and more with each renewal.

As I became more disillusioned with 'football', I decided to follow my local non-league team (Step 4, now Step 3) home & away with a couple of mates. I'd say I've been going the last 3-4 years, but have actively followed them over LCFC this season, which feels a bit weird - a bit like cheating on your wife, I reckon.

But I can honestly say that it's brought a love back for the game I thought had gone forever - an appreciation of what I think 'proper football' is. We all booze during the game (as we actually can), sing for 90 minutes and support the boys, whether we win or lose. Does a loss feel the same as Leicester defeats of the past? No, well not yet, anyway. But it is bloody enjoyable, and I'd recommend it to anyone who feels the same way.

It feels weird having given up on Leicester - I've supported them pretty much my entire life through thick and thin, but I'm not interested in this offering of 'football' anymore. The PL is analysed to death, the flair players seemingly eradicated for 'system' players, and all this whilst traditional stadiums are torn down in pursuit of higher revenue...by attracting tourists to games - it's a shame to see Goodison Park in it's final season. I feel like this is a bit of an emotional rambling, and I guess I'm just a bit gutted about it, as I never thought I'd stop following Leicester.

Feel very similar. I'll no doubt renew purely in the hope that one day things magically get better and return to how it used to be. I'm very tempted to buy myself a ST at Notts County next season alongside my Leicester one. Might be an odd experience, and I certainly won't be proud about it, but I need to try and find a connection with football again.

Never ever thought I'd contemplate the idea as I'm blue through and through but like yourself just fed up with what football has become and the fact the club is a) a complete shambles off the field, and b) those in charge just seem happy to followed the crowd (largely dominated by US owners who see a match day experience rather than a game of football).

What I find odd is that I've always felt relatively connected to the club, but if we go back to the Pearson Championship winning/great escape era that connection was probably at it's highest, which is some going given I supported the club since Pleat was in charge, and loved the Little, and MON year's. Can't believe that in a period of 12 years I've gone from living and breathing LCFC to barely interested in going to games or even watching on the TV.

I can completely resonate with your story too as mine is almost identical to yours

Actually there isn't a single point you made that differs from my perspective now from old grounds to the awful treatment of supporters.

I lost all the love for the top flight (and wannabe PL clubs too) especially in 2020 when it became apparent that we were no longer important to these clubs anymore.  The big clubs were never going to help the smaller outfits so from that point on I wanted my footballing funds to go to non-league and not to big clubs anymore.

As soon as the NL North re-opened for that brief window I headed to a couple of nearby non-league fixtures at Banbury and Brackley with the latter winning a myself (and a good mate) over instantly.

I dropped my ST for good last week and it felt good getting that burden off my shoulders which became an utter chore near the end (including last season where I stopped going after a few games).  I managed to sell my Liverpool ticket on the official LCFC ticket site so I may head to one final game to say a farewell but tbh I'm not overly fussed at even doing that now.

I'm sure relatively good times will be back for LCFC but I won't be returning for them unless on a rare occasion I'm lucky enough to get a digital ticket gifted to me on the lovely new restrctive system they have put in.

With them being back in the mix with 20+ similar sized wannabe PL clubs they will most likely see much less success going forward and at best brief flirts with the PL.

Do you know what I will not miss... sitting crammed next to supporters getting frothed up about a bad pass and getting home feeling like you've had a round in the boxing ring!  I'm only Messi height and build but my word those seats are getting worse as our fellow humans seem to be growing in size these days encroaching onto the surrounding seats somewhat!
