Farke is another expert manager in the championship but terrible in the Premier league. In his defence his only time in the Premier league was with Norwich where had no budget to work with.

Ruud van Nistelrooy looks set to take charge of Leicester City’s fixture at Wolves as rumours continue to swirl around his future.

Van Nistelrooy has been asking the club for talks over next season for a few weeks, and he said following confirmation of relegation on Sunday that City would be “wasting time” if they held off a decision any longer. It is now expected that those talks will be held from next week.

The Dutchman has a contract until 2027 but after overseeing City’s fall into the Championship, as well as a record losing streak and a four-month home goal drought, there are considerable doubts that he will lead the club next term.

 

But at the very least, he is expected to be in the dugout at Molineux on Saturday when City take on Wolves in what is now a dead rubber, with van Nistelrooy due to preview the game at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Van Nistelrooy has previously said he would honour his contract and has started to prepare for next season, discussing in the aftermath of the Newcastle defeat that City were “changing course” and looking to the future, with selection changes and teenagers Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans handed debuts.

 

But City’s future may not include him, and names have already started to emerge as potential candidates to be his successor.

In the past couple of days, former Southampton boss Russell Martin, Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Rohl, England Under-21s coach Lee Carsley, and former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche have been linked with the job.

Suggestions that City may hold off on sacking van Nistelrooy because of concerns over Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for this financial year do not appear to stack up.

City are close to the wire on PSR for this season, hence their January business being limited to one £3m signing, but waiting for the new financial year to sack van Nistelrooy would be leaving it too late.

The accounting year runs to June 30. If City waited beyond that point to sack van Nistelrooy and appoint a new manager, they would be interrupting their pre-season preparations for the new Championship campaign.

If City do want a new manager in the hotseat to lead what they hope will be a Championship promotion charge, then they will need to make a decision on van Nistelrooy before June 30, and so in this financial year.

Given those concerns around PSR, it would make unemployed managers more likely to be targeted, so that no compensation fee would be needed.

Sack him, pay the compensation, accept the punishment, get the best, most suitable manager in who will come regardless of paying for them. Better to have the best manager and take the punishment than having a manager no one wants and struggle anyway . While you're at it get a recognised, experienced and successful Director. Just stop dilly dallying, be decisive.

We've had 2 poor appointments in a row so we can't afford to make it 3. That said, our options will be limited as we are unlikely to pay compensation for anyone and many decent managers just won't want to come our shit show. That said though, outside the prem, I'd still say we are the most attractive side for any manager given the recent history, training ground, fan base etc but it's weighing all that up against the sheer incompetent board that they would have to work under. 

 

I do reckon Dyche would snap our hands off coming here to be fair. I think I'd prefer a younger up and coming manager but it could be a case of beggars can't be choosers. 

 

Going back to my original point that we can't make 3 bad managerial appointments in a row, I don't think Dyche would necessarily be bad, just a bit uninspiring but I'd have him over Martin any day.

We're going to need to sack Ruud before the end of June so will probably exceed PSR anyway so as I say above -

Yep totally agree. If we were to get punished and had a points deduction next season, it's not the end of the world, so long as we have the right manager. A poor appointment/keeping Ruud would be worse than a points deduction anyway.

I don't rate Farke. It was a massive failure last season not getting promoted given they had arguably the strongest squad. He's got them up this season but it's a really poor league and there is only Burnley who are decent, I really don't rate Sheff United at all.

I mean the bar is so low now, all Farke would need to do is A) get promoted and B) get us 20+ points, and he'd be our most successful top flight manager since Rodgers.

Farke would be a great appointment for us, if he gets dumped by Leeds. We should do the same, get out of the division with a proven Championship winning manager (2-3 times in Farkes case).

We don't want a manager just to get promoted and then dump, it would cost and be so disruptive, you need consistency at the best of times especially when getting promoted.

 

We need a manager for the now and the future. We should be aiming for a manager that is so successful he moves to a 'bigger' club and we get compensation.

That approach hardly worked well post Maresca, a short term approach would be better appoint a manager that gets us promoted and then keep us up, and then look for a progressive manager with potential once we have stayed in the premier league.

The club has a number of talented players coming through the academy. To appoint a manager who wont play and develop them would sum up how utterly incompetent the people who run the club are. A manager that plays youth should be one of the main requirements of any appointment considering our Psr position
