They were about to set off to the event, just had to finish up a one lap run around the training pitch to warm down before they went. The delay was, Ayew's still going. They started on Monday morning, he's about made it around the first corner of the pitch now.

Cynically did no-one sign up for Reid & Ayew and now they've picked two players who have a bit more popularity (by all accounts McAteer is apparently a very good egg off the pitch).

I agree however I would also imagine Vards would have also wanted the announcement out as early as possible so he can maximise his send off and get to say a proper goodbye over these last 5 games.

Now they have sold the last home game of the season when it was on general sale.

Now we will be giving V9 a send off after losing to Ipswich instead of a half empty stadium and Faes & Co doing a "lap of dishonour".
