When you’re supposed to be part of a team that’s fighting relegation, let alone earning massive wages, was it too much to ask him to stay at the training ground on the night before a home match to save a long journey? No loyalty or fight. Regardless of RVN he was clearly out of his depth back in the premiership, probably why no other teams other than us rushed in to buy him.

I think it's very easy to make a judgement on snips of information. My observation would be he's attitude seem fine under Enzo and Cooper, which suggests there was more at play with RVN. I'd agree he a very good championship player and probably a OK player in a PL team which can cover for his weakness which is physicality. To honests that's not a massive rush for any of our players. Thats great in theory, but in reality the difference between a player being brilliant and being off his best is often psychological, and that is down to the manager and coaches to create the right environment. Some players are more sensitive than others too.

Its the managers job to manage the team he has, not put them on the spot and create a division over frankly nothing. If your player has issues at home and feels he needs to be home overnight then you support them and make it work. That is how you get players to play for you, not making a demand which puts them in a difficult position of choosing to prioritise their family or their dickhead boss.

His attitude was fine under Enzo and cooper as they didn't ask him to stay at Seagrave one night a week. Personally all players should live within a reasonable distance from the ground 30/40 miles and no more. 80/90k a week I wasn't on that a year took a transfer and the company in the end wanted me to move closer to Bedford as they were paying travel. No excuse he's a selfish cvnt and RVN was not to blame. He's a professional sportsman on ridiculous money. RVN wanted him 100% on game day not traveling 200+ miles. RVN Wasn't upto it but don't call him out on this, he was totally right. NO player should be travelling like that for a home game ever. You want the money make the sacrifice ffs. To add. He's not got young kids at school. That could be a fair reason for not moving. Edited 24 July 2025 by sylofox 2

He might have had a wife who needed to be close to family for reasons which are none of our business.

Why would he not sign IF he was not asked to move closer or stay overnight before games at that point? You can't then demand it 18 months later and throw a hissy fit when he says no, it's pathetic and contrived.

And only big changes would have a change in contract. Personally I don’t think staying one night in a hotel is a big change but I suppose that is a matter of opinion. What it says to me about him is he is someone who resists change and is inflexible.

Pretty sure that being happening at the club for a while, it was nothing new. Maybe it was something that was discussed when he signed and something was agreed? 2 hours ago, sylofox said: Personally all players should live within a reasonable distance from the ground 30/40 miles and no more. Which probably take you out of the market for a lot of players, we had players comutting from as far a way as Manchester when we won the PL and FA Cup. So why? 2 hours ago, sylofox said: 80/90k a week I wasn't on that a year took a transfer and the company in the end wanted me to move closer to Bedford as they were paying travel. Not worth anywhere near what we pay him. Imo he's on the next shelf up from Denis Wise. So one off of the floor. Get the cvnt out.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 24 July 2025 Posted 24 July 2025 Still maintain that no one is spending money on him when they could have had him for free last season. He'll stay here and feign injury for most of the season imo. Which wouldn't be the worst thing as we can claim his wages on insurance.

You've obviously never had an injury that you're claiming for or been very lucky. They don't just accept your word or a doctors for the average person. So on 70/80k a week 😆 not a chance. I had an insurance PI follow me for two weeks after a serious back injury. It only stopped after police stopped him to see who he was and my solicitor put in an extra claim for harassment.
