Jattdogg Posted 29 July 2025 Posted 29 July 2025 Only Leicester could sell a player to a Saudi club for next to nothing 1 2
Lambert09 Posted 29 July 2025 Posted 29 July 2025 Honestly surprised he didn’t go there last summer. Any international players with the amount of caps wilf has would interest them 1

Genuniely think with Wilf, he and his family are quite settled, and really quite happy in Leicester. It's a good thing. I like him. I can't see him wanting to live in Saudi. Might be completely wrong of course. Time will tell. Would much rather we shifted Soumare to the Arabs 2

After his wife had a baby, he stopped wanting to stay overnight so he could spend more time with his baby. I don't think it's an unreasonable request, and I think even if it was it could have been managed in a far more professional way by Ruud. Regardless, for me everyone gets a clean slate under the new manager. The past is the past, and Winks can be a very useful player in a Marti Cifuentes Leicester team. It is an unreasonable request! It’s one night a week for Christs sake on astronomical wages, other normal people have to work shifts and sometimes work away for days on end. Selfish twat. When the manager is trying to eek the last bit of fight out of a squad to try and avoid relegation he just couldn’t be bothered ! Not the only one.

Unfortunately work pays the bills, I had to work when I’ve had kids. Worked and stayed away, that is such a poor excuse for him. if he didn’t like it, he should have found a new job like other people do. 2

He doesn't have to at all, not unless it was written in to his contract. He can do the 100 mile drive each way every time he has to be in and rhe club can't do anything about it. Not like we have a competent DoF to sell him either is there? 😂😂😂😂 1

Debatable. He'd argue what is expected of him overnight vs travelling to and from across each day like he's done for over two seasons. And anyway, even if it was legitimate to him not fulfilling his contract, how often are players continually fined or withheld their wages? They aren't, they have so much power. I doubt we are very strict on clauses in contracts either, not with the laxadasical approach taken to the amount we offer on the flop.

Oh I don’t disagree on the clauses and poor contractual approach we have. I just feel it wasn’t a request that was unacceptable. Either way, he’s going to play this season unless he’s sold as he’s the best we have in midfield. 1

I also agree he shouldn't find too much of an issue with this request, but the modern footballer never fails to amaze me.

Unless it's written into his contract that he's required to spend x amount of nights at the training ground per week/per month then he's not 'refusing to make himself available' - he attends training, he attends games, that's it. I don't like the guy, but I don't think I'd be up for it either, it stinks of presenteeism to me - like the big push to get people back into the office for no discernible benefit so that they can sit on virtual Teams calls all day. Pointless. 3
MGLCFC Posted 30 July 2025 Posted 30 July 2025 I think with Winks it's not a straight forward case that he should have to stay overnight. If he arrives for work on time and puts in the work, then I don't see the problem. I drove 90 minutes to work everyday for 30 years and was never late of my own making. I wonder how many here would want to do a days work, then be made to stay away overnight from your young family? I'm obviously not party to the discussions between RVN and Winks, but I'm not sure you can change a contract an insert new rules regarding terms and conditions of employment without legal agreement.

Without the actual detail in what was discussed and the reasons behind it, we are all making it up. If you drive 90 mins but sit at a desk (i too am making that up) then you can assume that the drive has no bearing on your performance. I do a commute into london twice a week and its takes nearly 2 hours. I do it because i have to, but on those days i will put my hand up and say i think my overall output is worse because of it. But if my parent company said i had to stay overnight because of it, im not going to just accept that without a proper discussion. I dont think that matters if you are a junior or a multi millionaire. I do get the general feeling (again making it up) that Winks and Ruud properly fell out and that this whole thing found its way out there to provide the detail of why he was sidelined. In these situations, both have usually done something wrong. 1

UniFox21 Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Brilliant player, served us incredibly well, but lately plagued with hamstring issues that rule him out for 2/3/4 months every season. 4
FoxesTez Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Get it done quickly and move onto the next one out the door. 1
Cropwellfox Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Ndidi out Brownhill in would be very very smart business
Popular Post moore_94 Posted 3 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 3 August 2025 He was genuinely world class at what he did for a few seasons That midfield trio of Wilf, Youri, and Madders was perfect But with the injury issues, likely high wages, and our need for players to leave it is definitely time for him to move on Just over £8m for him is pretty good as well 19 1
