Marinakis identified by his teeth in true Fuhrer bunker style.

It's all going to go horribly wrong, and it'll happen fast when it does.

£200m in transfer fees and tens of millions in wages this summer alone. All they have to do is finish outside of the European places once and they're in a mess. Which, let's face it, will probably be this season with last season's top five likely to stay as it is, Spurs doing bits in the market and so on.

Summer of 2022 with higher stakes.

Interesting to see what happens with Guehi now. Could sign a new contract with a reasonable release clause but not guarantee of liverpool coming back for him..

Or runs hua contract and signs for Liverpool on a free. And to be fair I don't think he would have started for them right now anyway.

He'd have definitely gone straight in ahead of Konate surely?

Konate looks like a competition winner 90% of the time.

Guehi goes straight into that team, I genuinely hope he remains professional in his last year at Palace as he comes across as a really nice guy who just gets it.

Maybe, I think Konate is a good defender.

Don't know if it matters but guehi is generally a left sided defender and that's Van Dijk.

Would've got plenty of games but konate/van dijk may have got the big games.

Never understand the point of having a closing time if signings continue to happen hours later.

I think the paper work has to be in before 7 but not officially all done .

Believe not every country had the same deadline time either .

It’s a net spend of £85m.

They will make a big sale next summer (like this year). And will be absolutely fine. They have europa money, increased sponsorship, tickets etc.

Just because we can’t manage our finances doesn’t mean everyone else cannot.

You're forgetting the wages. We regularly made big sales but locked ourselves into crippling contracts to secure signatures and then found we couldn't shift players because nobody wanted to replicate the pay they were on with us.

Once they fail to make Europa (remember that they didn't actually qualify for UEL, but had it handed to them on a technicality), they're in bother.

Yep increased wages but also increased income, Europa doesn’t bring in quite enough to make losing this an issue for me. They can easily sell a Gibbs-White, Murillo, Anderson etc for £60m plus. We stopped doing this and allowed Tielimans to walk for free (criminal) and got a reduced fee for Maddison.

Remember they also have the multi club format (like a few of the others) which helps shift players on. Totally legit and something we will see more of.

The trouble comes with unexpected expenses or challenges. 'Sell a big player a year' came unstuck when we didn't shift Tielemans or Maddison. Combine failure to qualify with getting rid of Nuno and paying him off and then a compensation package to another club for their manager and there's only so far the multi-club partnership stretches - respectfully, Botafogo or Lyon aren't going to lob £75m at them for Chris Wood and Ryan Yates.

If we didn't have idiots in charge though, we would have shifted those players. How much did Arsenal bid for Maddison, £60m? But we wanted to keep him. Tielemans, again, we let run down his contract like some other assets but there is no doubt a more capable club would have moved him on for a fee.

Pains me to see other clubs operating better. You talk about clubs not wanting to pay fees but nowadays players, average players, go for stupid fees. You only have to look at Wissa going for £55m.

Sounds like what Forest could be saying with Gibbs-White in a couple of years. Hindsight is a wonderful thing; keeping Maddison seemed like a genuine coup at the time.
