That was where my thinking was going. Either RVN is leading the sessions or he’s told to stay away. Shambolic.

Unfortunately I think the first week is fitness testing anyway, so doubt Ruud would be involved anyway, which might give something away. Not sure there's any coaching straight away—more testing, fitness checks, etc etc. And you've got Matt Reeves (?) and his team for that still.

I've just been for a catch up with someone who has said this isn't the case, supposedly been a reshuffle. A couple of performance roles have come up in the academy which he said he was told have come from first team staff being moved on and academy staff being promoted.

Correct but a manager has always been there even in the background. It’s incredibly important to get a read of players that first week, it’s the best indication of who gives a shit and has kept in shape

Interesting. When you say "this isn't the case", are you/were they specifically talking about our fitness and conditioning team/Matt Reeves?

Do we know that for certain? I'd like to believe that's the case (and completely agree with you), but I don't 100% recall managers being in any of those conditioning montages we sometimes in pre-season/"the first week back" posts. Happy to be proved wrong though.

They were of the belief that the previous fitness staff were no longer in place, when I asked as in Matt Reeves, he said him and others. He's worked under a previous member of the medical and fitness staff quite recently.

For the sake of accuracy,  sheep are not that common in Austria.  Pigs and Cows are plentiful. From what I have seen here the game will played at the Sportszentrum, Friedberg.  I assume not behind closed doors but will check that before driving 150 miles each way!!

So they’re making a general, non-football-related comment on the weather (which seems an odd thing for a football club to do) and using pictures of last summer’s pre-season to do so, thereby giving the false impression that the players are back in pre-season this summer? I think so, as even if they were back in training - it'd be at Seagrave and not at some random foreign stadium as in the photos. They'd also have the new training wear on, and in these images it's last season's. 

 

I'm not sure the social media team have the awareness to understand how it may look...
