I emphatically agree.

That's why any agreement has to come with security guarantees, or it's pointless.

There are no security guarantees when dealing with despots. Recognise Crimea as part of Russia to stop the fighting... Russia pushes forward again, hoping that the world will then concede Donetsk and Kharkiv... and then...

Sabre rattling isn't going to work, sadly.

What is going to work? Regime change? Act of God?

There's never a good plague of locusts when you need one is there?

No idea.

Also have no idea why some folks are so enamoured of the idea of the above mentioned Cold War style world where the big powers carve up everything else, but this time they're just a little less antagonistic towards each other.

In the latest weird turn of events in the UK political system since it turned from a 2 party system to a 5 party system (while it creaks under a FPTP voting system designed for 2 parties), it seems the real centrist dads are apparently the 18-25 years old, as the Liberal Democrats are now topping the polls in the youngest age group in the latest yougov poll.

A couple of other interesting takeaways from that chart:

- Reform are poaching mostly from the Tories rather than a broader base and once they're there they're tending to stay there.

- their age appeal does lean more towards 50+, but around one third are still below the age of 50.

So he HAS been sacked or not?! I asked ChatGPT but it wouldn't snitch.

Maybe I'm showing my age but if I had my mum come out saying, 'no he hasn't been sacked, actually!' would be ten times worse than actually getting the sack.

Al Jazeera quoted that Hams have agreed to witkoff deal 🙏

though we’ve been here before with these reports and it turns out that they won’t agree to certain parts of it.

Word from Jeruslem is that the Isr cabinet will reject the deal they had approved some weeks ago. Politics has moved on since then. Hams rejection of the deal last month emboldened the nutters on the right.

maybe this is what trump was on about with his tweet earlier today where he said a deal with hams isn’t possible and they need to be destroyed.  He’s trying to get ahead of the media curve.

Trump is absolutely deranged.

As Rory Stewart put it on the RIP this week, he appears to be basing his understanding of the world on the game RISK form the mid Eighties.  "We are number one, Russia is number two".  I mean seriously?

He needs to take Australia.

Easy to defend and you're getting extra troops in the early game.

Watch out Jon!

Can't believe that Reform's child councillor has left his position as deputy leader of the County Council and lead for adult social care after just 3 months in the two posts

He seemed ideal, the perfect kid for the job.

If wasn't even with respect to the Russia/Ukraine. Zelensky sat next to him and he uses the time to repeatedly rant about Biden and come out with some made up garbage that people can finally go out for dinner in DC now that he's solved all crime like some sort of Judge Dredd.

That size of ego and thinness of skin really isn't the best combination for a world leader, is it?

Trump treats being President of the USA as though he's on some sort of reality TV show, not ideal either.

On the gen topic above, a quote:

"What is the only provocation that could bring about the use of nuclear weapons? Nuclear weapons. What is the priority target for nuclear weapons? Nuclear weapons. What is the only established defense against nuclear weapons? Nuclear weapons. How do we prevent the use of nuclear weapons? By threatening the use of nuclear weapons. And we can't get rid of nuclear weapons, because of nuclear weapons. The intransigence, it seems, is a function of the weapons themselves."

It's the complete and total detachment from the reality of the world that offends me.
