Does anyone really think that such things would stop where the people with "legitimate concerns" think it should stop? Of course it won't.

And Jews, people with squinty eyes, people who walk funny, any man who wears pink, anyone who thinks Jim Davidson isn't funny, anyone who knows more than five foreign words...

Sadly those people were born in this country and are British citizens so we have to put up with them. 
 

people who immigrate into this country and commit an offence above a pre determined level (likely involving violence/ sexual assault)  should be deported if the offence occurs within the first five years. beyond five years they become our problem.  That time period could be adjusted to reflect the data we already have. 


those claiming asylum should be deported whatever crime they’ve committed. 

does that sound draconian?

I absolutely agree and the small boats problem needs addressing. 
 

The issue is, the reform narrative is not just about those committing crimes. There are criminals and awful people of all colours in this country, same as there are benefit scroungers as well as thoroughly hardworking and good people of all colours.

 

The focus should be on being proactive and prevention whereas the reform narrative is about wait for them to get here, detain and deport.
 

There’s some good work being done around finding the smuggling gangs. Target at source. Make the country less desirable by not having such a soft and easy to access benefits system and that goes for home grown people too. Make the justice system tougher but fair. Like I say, make it less desirable for people to come and target the source. 
 

Many people will share the view I have explained and think Reform are vile.

I find this stuff really bizarre, and haven't heard it anywhere other than England. Obviously a state has a duty to try its hardest to stop foreign criminals from entering the country or to remove them. That British citizens also commit crimes is irrelevant to that fact.

 

The 'wrong colour' stuff is equally bizarre in Britain considering attitudes in this country towards Irish immigrants and others from Europe, and feels like another example of English societal issues being seen through an American lens.

As I said in reply to St Albans, people need to be dealt with regardless of their colour or status. 
 

It is more the issue that the right wing lot look to make all the issues about immigration and whilst our protesting about immigrants, literally get caught on camera displaying the very behaviours they would vilify others for. 
 

I am not left wing or a ‘looney leftie’. I am central in my political views. I think the boat thing, crime and benefit system need addressing. These are more central right views but I believe Reform are just sowing division and hatred for their own agenda. I also believe we should be more sustainable in terms of our energy and be independent from instability like in the Middle East where possible. This is a more central left view.

It is relevant in that there is a perception that immigrants are more likely to commit crime, when research shows that the truth is there is no difference in the likelihood.

The concerning thing for me is that the mom was amused by the inappropriate comments and attention when she should have been outraged and protective.
