No, cos he's out of contract next summer.

My bad, for some reason I thought he'd got longer.

Then makes sense I guess to cash in if we generate interest.

3 of our fullbacks are going into their last year.  Riccy, JJ, Thomas.  Then there's Bouba, Winks, Ayew, Daka and Marcel.  As well as Begovic now.  Better sell him while we can!

Isn't that an argument to keep him this season and sell next summer?

I'm all for trimming the squad and agree JJ looked a shadow of himself at times more recently, but I also want our trimmed squad to still be the best it could be and we've an unknown and Thomas who's even more hot and cold as alternatives.

We could buy someone else, but sometimes it's better the devil you know, and like you said he'll do a job in this league.

Problem is - for him to have some value next year we’d need to give him a new deal. And that means Rudkin spaffing out 5 years, £60k/week … and we don’t sell him at that point.
For me - balance the books. Cash in whilst we can.

The problem as I see it JJ is good enough to get us back up, but isn't good enough to keep us there.

He's 27, with a raft of major injuries so far, he be in a high wage.

He walks for free next summer, cash in and find an up and coming fullback.

If we’ve learnt anything as a club surely this must be it.

(We won’t have)

I still like him and think he is a good character to keep around. I think Ricardo is a better player, but he picks up injuries constantly. Can see Justin starting at RB for most the season if he stays. Not a disaster if he goes though, but has to be for good money to make it worth it.

At this level, I was pleased with what I saw with Choudhury playing RB, and obviously we have Ricardo and Woyo too.

JJ is great, but if we get an offer then he's surplus to requirements.

Aluko played more in pre-season than Coulibaly. I suspect he is seen as cover.

True! I forgot about him tbh

RE: Woyo, I honestly haven't seen enough of him to judge, personally, but it's not a good sign that we haven't seen much of him.

Either way, he's still in the squad and a possible option, even if he's last, but it still means that JJ is surplus.

Woyo is an attacking right back, almost wing back, in the conventional sense.

He's not what Cifuentes wants at all.

While the Championship is probably his level, I wouldn't agree he's good enough for what we want this year.

You'd imagine we'll have a decent amount of the ball this season, and frankly his passing has made Wilf look like Pirlo in his prime.

Justin would be fine for a lot of clubs in the Championship, but he'd be a much better fit in a team that will rarely dominate games.

Enzo played Doyle ahead of him for a reason.

Usually your opponents are a good gauge of where your weak links lie. When we were here two years ago, teams in this League targeted Justin, he was the weak link then. They especially targeted him under the high ball, he would get caught out time and time again.

He genuinely looks finished to me. Bereft of all confidence because he doesn't appear to have the legs to get him out of trouble anymore. Kind of like Pereira, except he has the technical ability and brain to have reforged himself from a marauding full back to one who uses his intelligence to create overloads.

Watching him against any wide men these days, is like watching Ben Mee against Jimmy Kebe.

Get JJ done next and we are set for the season with regards to outgoings. Huge chunk of wages saved. Puts us in a very strong position with dealing with other interest and hope no one triggers Bilal’s release clause.

If Bilal goes, then it's even more important JJ goes, so we have more financial room for Bilal's replacement and a new number 9.

Get rid at all costs at a knock down price and get him off the wages bill. We’ve plenty of cover at this level and don’t whatever you do give him another contract!

you don’t have to like him but ‘ getting rid at all costs’ is not going to make us a financially stable club.

Who else we got at RB, because we cannot rely on Ricardo being fit.
Not that keen on Hamza being our starting RB all season.
Is Coulibaly any good?

No worse than JJ who has been  poor for years

Would like to think we're one of the championship clubs asking about Alfie Gilchrist on loan from Chelsea
