DennisNedry Posted 2 August 2025 Posted 2 August 2025 Been said multiple times, but JJ was genuinely one the best fullbacks in the PL once upon a time. The first injury absolutely ruined him. Absolute liability defensively multiple times last season and the season before. Didn't look brilliant in the Championship winning season. Hardly ever gets forward anymore either. The assist for Vardy's 200th was a strange harking back to when he actually had something to offer going forward. If Leeds or Everton sign him, they'll both quickly regret it.
Kinowe Soorie Posted 2 August 2025 Posted 2 August 2025 Does anyone have any examples or proof that Justin, was once upon a time, a top tier full back? Cos I’ve never thought he was that good. Pereira before his injuries was a genuine top class player. JJ, nowhere near. 1 1 1

Some individual performances were imperious. I actually thought he was decent the year under Enzo. Previously was a much better attacking full back than defender but in Enzo's system he wasn't getting forward as much but was solid. It's best for all parties he moves on this summer though and we don't lose him for free. 2
Popular Post Tuna Posted 2 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 2 August 2025 I like him but I don't "wanna turn down £6 million in the last year of his contract" like him. Sell, get it done. 6

Thought he was pretty poor defensively in that season, made a lot of individual errors which lead to goals, carried it on when we return to the PL. 1

When he was a million miles off his best form as well. Not on Ricardo's level (who was frankly ridiculous) but I do think people forget how incredible he was the season he got injured. Played every position in a 3 or 4 except for in a back 2 and was excellent in all of them. As I understand it, he was an absolute shoe in for the England squad that summer and likely the first choice at left back. 1
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Would happily take anything over £5m, seen some jokers stating they want £10m+ for him which is hilarious. Must be Rudkin on his burner account.

Played in the nations league against Hungary. Came off because of injury. Was in line to play against Italy and Germany too.

Was/is decent going forward but always been defensively suspect. Must be going on 20 plus Prem goals that have come from him losing concentration and letting his winger get in behind 1 1
Pliskin Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Another one who can go! £5m would be good business for him. Showed flashes of being half decent, but he’s largely been very poor, bar the odd wonder goal. All aboard the **** off train! 1

adejo92 Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Seems a likeable guy which is probably why people give him the benefit of the doubt. Was absolutely horrific last season & one of the main reasons we were relegated. It got to the point where I felt sorry for him having to play.
FoxinNotts Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Yeah, sell, for me. I like the guy, but he's had a great run with us. Last season he seemed to be making mistake after mistake, bless him. He had his best games at left back Imo. His biggest floor was constantly getting caught under the ball from deep whipped crosses, regardless of which side he played. Cant fault his attitude and work ethic tho. Top man, but time to cash in.

He speaks well and isn't arrogant and always comes across as a great gentleman. An excellent pro who never seems to get angry or misbehave. But i times i've felt he was absolutely terrible. And i mean terrible. A new start will be great for him and we need to move on, so lets take what we can and remember him as 'ok', but lets not make up he was some sort of top tier player we were lucky to have. Popular Post roblcfc84 Posted 3 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 3 August 2025 Think a few people are underestimating what a great player he’s been for us, there’s a load of players I’d want to see go ahead of JJ - Soumare, BDR, Faes, Vestergaard…even Daka. 4 1

He was good about 4 years ago, he’s been far from great for years. With one year left on his contract, we need to get some sort of fee for him rather than lose him on a free. 1
suffolk fox Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 (edited) He was awful in the premier for us last season, though in truth a lot were. Positionally, he was caught out a number of times. See how often he drifts aimlessly into the centre of the pitch leaving his side totally exposed. If we can get anything over 5m for him sell. Edited 3 August 2025 by suffolk fox
sdb Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Any player who was shit under Cooper and RVN gets a free pass. He was outstanding for 6-12 months and, as others have said, was ruined by the injury. I still subconsciously expect him to return to an excellent PL full back but maybe I'm overly optimistic. Would be interested to see what a competent manager can get out of him.
brookfox Posted 3 August 2025 Posted 3 August 2025 Reality is we have PSR concerns still, too many full backs and too many players out of contract at the end of the season. While JJ would be an asset in the squad this year, if we can sell we unfortunately definitely should.
