Stolarczyk

“He’s feeling good,” City boss Marti Cifuentes said on Stolarczyk at his press conference on Thursday afternoon.

“He’s had a full training week. We were considering last week how much risk we wanted to take with him. He’s been feeling very good and he’s ready to play.

Nelson

“He (Nelson) has made good progress, he’s been training the past few days with the team, and he feels very positive.

“That’s very positive news for us. He’s ready and he’s available, so we’ll consider if we want to start with him.

Faes

“He (Faes) has been training with the team as well. It was bleeding a lot, despite the stitches. During the week he has been feeling better. We took some caution at the start of the week but now he’s ready and available.”

Soumare

“We need to have some more tests with Bouba,” Cifuentes said. “He felt a little bit in his knee and we will know more about it in the next couple of days.”

Others

Aaron Ramsey (hamstring), Victor Kristiansen (knee), Caleb Okoli (knee) and Harry Souttar (Achilles) all ruled out.

Jeremy Monga injury latest with Leicester City set to have seven missing for Bristol City clash
The 16-year-old winger was missing from the squad for the win at Derby and may not play again before Christmas, with doubts over midfielder Boubakary Soumare too

Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga may not play again until after Christmas

Monga was absent from the City squad that won at Derby on Saturday and manager Marti Cifuentes said he had a muscle problem, one that could keep him out for a couple of weeks.

It seems almost certain then that he will miss the fixtures against Bristol City and Ipswich this week, and may not be back in time to face QPR in the final match before Christmas either.

City are also still assessing Boubakary Soumare, who has picked up a knee injury in training. The Frenchman was also absent at Pride Park.

It means City are set to have seven players missing for their trip to Ashton Gate on Wednesday. Caleb Okoli (knee), Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) and Victor Kristiansen (knee) are all out, while Harry Souttar still needs time in training following his year-long absence with an Achilles tear.

Harry Winks' omission in a “technical decision” does not bode well for the midfielder to feature again soon, with his future now in doubt as the January window nears.

Thankfully for City, they had Jakub Stolarczyk and Ben Nelson return to fitness at Derby, with both going straight back into the 11 and both performing well.

Discussing Nelson, Cifuentes said: “It was tough for us because from the moment he started to get the momentum, he played really well before that injury, then it was a blow for all of us.

“But he has shown a very good pro mindset to be back as soon as possible. I have a lot of trust in him and he responded with an excellent performance in a week that has not been easy.

“Unfortunately, we got two more injuries in the form of Bouba and Jeremy. Jeremy is more of a muscular thing. Hopefully we are talking about a few days, perhaps one to two weeks. Hopefully it’s not a big one. Bouba, we need to know more about him.

“To have players coming back is so important and it’s a busy period, so the way the team responded to this adversity is very good.”

By the time they face QPR, City may also be without Patson Daka, with the striker set to be included in the Zambia squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Is he a Striker Ric?

Spent most of his youth career for the U16s and U18s as a winger but can see why he may stay as a striker which he seems to be used more predominantly in the U21s.

Jordan James injury update for Ipswich clash after Leicester City midfielder's substitution
The Wales international was taken off before the hour mark in City's 2-2 draw with Bristol City at Ashton Gate, where they gave up a two-goal half-time advantage

Jordan James is battling to be fit to face Ipswich on Saturday after a groin injury saw him substituted in Leicester City’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City.

James has just over 48 hours to recover before City host the promotion-chasing Tractor Boys, with manager Marti Cifuentes hopeful he will be able to include the loanee in his line-up.

Cifuentes said that James had felt a problem in his groin at half-time. He came out for the second half to see if he could shake it off, but that wasn’t the case, the Welshman needing to subbed before the hour mark.

“With JJ today we had to sub him because he was struggling at half-time,” Cifuentes said.

Marti Cifuentes admits his half-time mantra is not getting through to Leicester City players

Marti Cifuentes gives unconvincing answer on Harry Winks selection after Leicester City omission

“We tried to see how it could go in the second half but it was not getting better. Having a game in 48 hours, it’s important to keep everybody available.

“Hopefully (he’ll be okay to play on Saturday). He mentioned he was feeling it and it was not getting better. He’s a very important player for us.”

With Aaron Ramsey and Boubakary Soumare injured, and with Harry Winks seemingly not being considered for selection, City are running low on midfielders.

Following James’ withdrawal, Bobby De Cordova-Reid dropped into James’ box-to-box role, with Jordan Ayew taking over as the number 10.

Later on, Hamza Choudhury took over from De Cordova-Reid with Bade Aluko brought on at right-back. Louis Page also got some minutes in midfield late on.

Cifuentes said Winks will be available for selection for Saturday, but was unconvincing in his answer, and so the England midfielder may be left out for a third straight game.

Ramsey is getting closer to a return from a hamstring injury suffered in October, but is not yet due back.

When providing an update on Soumare at the start of the week, Cifuentes said the club were waiting for feedback on a knee issue.

Sounds like the sort of minor niggle that turns into an operation and two months off-sick. Hoping the 'Welshman' is ok for his/our sake and that Ramsey comes back fit and well very soon.

Jordan James

He was taken off at Ashton Gate, leading to questions from the media during Friday’s pre-Ipswich press conference, but Martí Cifuentes was able to report some positive news.

“We had to take a difficult decision during the [Bristol City] game,” he told reporters. “He’s a very important player for us. The medical [team] has done good work, he feels better and is available for tomorrow."

Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey, another player on loan, from Burnley, is also making good progress towards his recovery after being out of action since 25 October.

“Aaron is feeling much better,” Cifuentes added. “He’s been training with the group, looking good. Obviously, he’s now in the final stage, so hopefully we’ll have a good week with him and let’s see where we are at the end of next week.”

Monga and Soumare

Jeremy Monga and Boubakary Soumaré, on the other hand, also remain out for the Foxes, with the former expected to return to training at some stage in the coming weeks.

“Not for tomorrow,” the Manager explained, discussing both. “They’re different cases. Jeremy, most likely, will start to train with the group next week.

“Unfortunately, he will not be ready for tomorrow. It’s a small muscular issue and we hope he can be ready for the next games.

“With Bouba, it will take a bit longer. With the tests, the specialists and medical team said to us it’s a small issue in his knee that will require some weeks. How many weeks, it’s difficult to say, but hopefully not many.”

Good new on Ramsey, looked impressive before his injury.

Ramsey and Monga

“Good news, finally, [is that] both Aaron and Jez are feeling good,” the Spaniard told reporters. “Aaron has been training at a high level, same with Jeremy. So, if everything goes well, they will be ready for the game.”

Souttar

“It’s difficult to say,” the 43-year-old said on Souttar. “Still he comes from a long injury, so we want to take the right steps. If he keeps on his progress, hopefully in the next few days or weeks I can give you a more accurate answer.

Okoli

“Caleb is a little bit ahead of the schedule and feeling good. Hopefully next week he will join the group. He has already started to do some parts of the training with us. He will not be ready for Saturday, but we’ll see how he feels and how we develops next week.

Soumare

“Bouba is still working in the rehab in the gym and hopefully next week he will start to be on the pitch.”

That's all really positive. And with defensive cover returning it opens the door for the Belgian toilet brush to move on in Jan.
