Part of this clowns role is to ensure there is a consistent message across the club. That anyone talking to the media or to the public is saying the same things, the same message.

To do this successfully you need a strong relationship with the manager, media team and the players. You need an element of control. It’s brutal but it’s necessary, and tbf it’s really difficult, but it’s doable, most clubs do it correctly.

Yesterday’s defeat shows you where he is at with this type of thing. Nowhere. Not respected and totally void of any control or strategy.

Manager saying one thing, a player saying something contradictory.

I’d say someone has asked Abdul specifically to say something, but Abdul very clearly has not understood what he’s been told to say. Going to fans leaving early is wrong IMO as we didn’t leave early yesterday.

Like you say, poor communication.

I would imagine players arent allowed to comment on a loss unless they're given the go ahead, even so normally from footballs its disappointed we couldnt get the win, we march on or something similar, not the essay Abdul has written

Yeah it's all on Tony that. Either directly or from the people he has working for him that have also been there far too long. I know lower league clubs that run media and comms departments better than him and with a lot less people. A very misguided and factually incorrect message as you say.  The leaving early thing is probably pent up anger from Tony and a way to have a dig at the fans that have slowly started to "out" him.

I’m fine with it not being corporate, but it’s a strange angle.

The club is a ****ing shambles I really hate buying from them. Before the last game I ordered a shirt for my kid, couldn’t really say no, thinking click and collect it, Leicester City the only business in the world where click and collect is actually slower than sending it 2nd class post!

Like most on the board, over promoted, under qualified.

You would hope someone who “lucked out” like that (and it does happen) put in the work to really fly one day and get over the imposter syndrome. Problem is, when you are surrounded by losers like Whelan and Rudkin, your motivation diminishes.

Absolutely imperative for him Top remains the retard he is as no one’s coming in for Ant and offering a similar salary. Shameful really the lack of morals instilled in so many members on this board. From Whelan, through to this guy - like wasn’t everyone brought up with the “honest days work, honest days pay” moto. says a lot about them and their background I’d say for what they are currently doing. He can’t believe he is earning his exec salary for ****ing birthday tweets and AI generated programme notes.

He is a sharp guy - the lack of communication isn't through incompetence

Just remembered he got himself on the pitch at Preston two years ago for some daft reason.

Lads, how will he be able to communicate the ongoings of the celebrations without being there himself?

No doubt. I also don’t think Whelan nor Rudkin are incompetent (entirely) I do think they lack other basic qualities though.

I think Rudkin is - his total lack of agency and foresight mean he just doesn’t have the skills to meet the elite football DoF threshold. Whelan has just checked out.

Genuinely thought I was in the Ginetta thread when I read this earlier.

We don’t even need official statements, they could just say so much indirectly through a Percy or a Jordan Blackwell.

If he's blocked from above, then you either find a way to negotiate and cut through the blockers, or you move on. Sitting in a position for years, incapable of doing anything doesn't seem that sharp. Football clubs for these roles don't pay the most either.

I don't blame him for sitting doing nothing all day and getting paid probably big money for it.

As a fan base we deserve better but as a job if he is happy why would he move?

We don't pay big money for non playing staff. Under market rates by a good margin. Same with others in our category (prior to relegation). These roles are quite substantially (I guess until you get to Rudkin etc level) under actual market rate for business/enterprise.
