He will get early results and they will play really exciting stuff. This will be lauded as a great appointment. But it won't take long for the cracks to appear, especially in the PL. He will run them to the ground and it will fall apart.

It will be interesting to see if if changes it bit by bit as they've had no preseason, or if he just goes all in. He seems the sort to just say 'f**k it' and go for it.

I think it'll be the total opposite lol

I don't think they start well at all. No pre-season is a killer for a club wanting to completely shift their way of playing.

They definitely need to make serious changes into their defence and midfield. Plus Sels is the wrong goalkeeper for a manager that wants to play an expansive game.

If he's given time I think he'd get a club like Forest (much less pressure externally or from fans) playing some decent stuff. But this season will almost definitely be absolutely horrible for them (or comparatively horrible).

I like Ange, he is a good manager and good bloke.  I don't however want him to succeed at Forest.  Shame.  Unfortunately I think he might do well.

Is he? He's had moderate success but never anywhere i would call elite. At Spurs he behaved like a petulant child at times. If i was a player and i saw his interviews and how he looked like he was on the verge a breakdown, i wouldn't find it inspiring - it always looked deeply concerning. Seeing how he setup against us, he's a complete liability of a manager when things aren't going his way.

I've always felt a lot of people think he's good because he's a bit of a 'proper bloke'. Happy to have a go at fans and reporters -  and all that.

So would Forest take a poor league season but European success ?

Hell of a gamble with how much they've spent and are in for wages.

They could throw the kitchen sink at Europe and take a 14th or 15th finish, but be deep in the brown stuff if they get dumped out at the semis.

They get to Europe for the first time since dial-up was cutting edge, give their manager a juicy new contract, spend £200m on players to fit into their current system, appoint a new head of recruitment who has a totally different philosophy and agent contacts to aforementioned manager, choose the new head of recruitment over the popular and successful manager, pay off that manager on a juicy three year contract and appoint a new manager, with a totally different style of play and horrible injury record, whose team finished 10 points below them a week after the transfer window closes and therefore making him wait until January at the very earliest, and probably later due to PSR, to buy players who'll fit into his radically different system.

Definitely a very well-run football club.

They won't win Europa,  think the conference would have been a much more likely option to win but that wasn't their choice.

This is super risky but if your forest the key this year is in and around 9 to 12 placement wise. Anything higher is a big success IMO.

If the new mgr bounce doesn't help then epl status is way more important than Europa (for their future).

This will either lead to status quo or non top 6 clubs or absolute failure.

Mental this.

Wouldn't be surprised if Ange did ok, but as others have said ultimately this kind of scattergun approach to decision making and a clear lack of any structure doesn't bode well.

I'm not sure there's much strategy going on.

They got lucky with Nuno and Marinakis's record of appointments is generally pretty minging.

Karanka, O'Neill, Lamouchi and Hughton before Cooper. And that Cooper side in the Championship was very haphazardly assembled before another mad splurge upon promotion that led to a points deduction for PSR breach. Nuno was probably the first period of real stability they've had since Marinakis took over.

You can only have success with the elite when you get there.  And he did just win a major European trophy.

And got fired because they had one of their worst league campaigns in years.
