What annoys me about Soumare, is that he has ability.

He’s just got awareness of danger around him.

I suspect you meant he lacks it, or missed the word 'no' out.

Yep. He's not carrying a knock despite what people keep saying. I don't know where that idea came from.

He probably didn't play for England u21s because he's only played 90 minutes of competitive football since he left Oxford at the end of last season.

Anyone who judges him on a dodgy first half against Huddersfield needs to apply the same standards to our other players and shows they've not watched him play every week for a manager, team and fan base who value him.

We're neglecting a major asset. Never mind Wout having to leave if he wants to play for his country, Nelson does too. I wouldn't blame his agent if he'd already started letting it be known that he'd be open to a permanent move in January. I believe there were already suitors this summer. The way we're treating him there are only going to be more.

It's very strange.

Marti has been extremely willing to put young players in when he sees fit - there's a lot of trust there, so is it that strange? I'm not so sure. If he thought Nelson was right for the job currently then he'd be playing.

Anyway, it's a long old season and he will be needed.

Yes. He missed the word “no” out between “has” and “ability”

Not sure what point you're making here. Is it that Marti is right to trust other young players but not Nelson?

Let's hope he's still here if/when the time comes that he is needed.

I suppose if they can find footage of similar tackles which were only punished with a yellow card they could appeal that the straight red was harsh considering the lack of intent.

It was a late tackle and he clearly took the other lad out.  However he wasn't injured as a consequence but I feel the ref was influenced by the reaction of the Oxford players and the home crowd which could have swayed his decision.

Worth a try I suppose.

I don't think that should be the baseline for a red or not.

I'm on the fence with this. I've seen worse given as yellows but seen plenty like this given as red. I'd rather we didnt appeal.

The rules say the following regarding serious foul play (red card offence).

Quote

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

I personally don't see how we could appeal based on this. No he didn't catch him with studs or anything like that but he flew into the tackle and lunged right at the lad with (IMO) excessive force.

I think it's more luck than design that Ramsey didn't injure the lad. I think he took his frustration of having such a poor start to the game out on the Oxford player.

We're not going to appeal. It was a harsh red - most refs would probably have given a yellow for it and there would have been few complaints. The ref was weak, but the decision wasn't enough of a obvious error for a panel to overrule it. No point wasting our time.

Mistimed but not excessive for me. He lunges in front of the player and misses the ball. It doesn't endanger their player at all.

If it stands as a red then a 3 match ban it crazy in the context of many other challenges that won't even be a free kick this season.

I’m saying that if Nelson shows enough in training he’ll get game time, it’s not like Marti is anti youth.

Its literally september, just take a deep breath he’ll get his chance.
