Gonna watch the highlights. Sadly the game was on way too early for us here in Cali.

reading the posts seems like 3 points lost for us and 1 point gained for Cov.

once our new players have bedded in we will be a force. The replay at cov will be a different game. Let’s move on!

You don't have to look for it. Every game he is poor, he can have 1 semi decent game in 50

He is not a striker, think people struggle to see how this is possibly suitable. No idea what he is, but he puts pressures on, floats into space, provides an out ball just not at the top end of the pitch. lol

One of those games, performance was ok, we are still a massive work in progress.

Once the new signing bed in will will be motoring, the league is rubbish.

We will be in the mix for the top two if we avoid injuries to key players.

They ain't played millwall

My bad confused myself, they played Milwall in the cup, they played Oxford. The point being if you think they have had one of the easiest starts in the division, it's no easier than ours really. We've played 3 teams that are currently 18th or below.

Felt we were clearly the better side. Could have won, perhaps should have, especially with the Mavs miss, but the point isn't a disaster at this stage of the season.

Sadly, we aren't good enough in creating enough good chances and when we do, we aren't clinical.

Thought Winks and JJ were good as was Fats before the interval. Monga definitely class.

Mavs sadly had a mare, Vestergaard seemed determined to play us into trouble late on.

Set pieces are awful.

Think we'll be close to play offs if we can sort the lack of creativity and clinical finishing.

Mowbray makes a great point. You need to score 70+ goals to get promoted, how are we going to do that with Ayew as our striker.

We are in trouble with our strikers

Can see the Vesty Ricardo Winks triangle back in force on this game, those 3 players trusting each other, on one occasion Ricardo wouldnt let the ball go until Winks jogged back to receive it again.

We played well 2nd half, but need to get more ruthless in front of goal.

Interesting Cov got Monzo as sponsor.   Proving there is decent sponsors out there.

All I seen from cov fans on twitter this week how they are going to walk all over us, they are to good going forward and we won't be able to handle them I didn't think to much of them today put a lot of crosses into the box but that was about it.

Agreed, we're not going up this season with this attack. I'm ok with that - when the dross leave for free at the end of the summer and free up some of the wage bill, we'll get some more committed players in who suit Marti's system.

I thought that was the best performance so far - Not a high bar I know, but still.

Coventry were a decent side, I doubt we’ll play many better this season. Levels above what we’ve faced so far and we were as good as them, if not a bit better.

Jordan James is class, needs to start every week. Just need someone else to replace Soumare in the side, offers very little.

Winks is just superb at this level, proper midfield maestro.

Crying out for a proper 9, a goalscorer.

Both teams defensively solid and offered little up front, onwards and upwards.

JJ, Winks and Ricardo looked to drive the ball forwards.  They need someone behind who has a brain and a sense of urgency. The  Thomas to Soumare pass constantly killed any attacking momentum.

The mistakes are obvious every week.  Hopefully the manager and his team start to address them. I don’t think he will, otherwise he would’ve by now.

Ayew and Mavadidi need dropping or learning how to play first time. Thomas needs to spend all week kicking the ball forwards with his right foot and everyone else learn how to blast a ball at the goal. Hamza and Soumare can share the Nintendo DS brain trainer.

Extremely frustrating game today.

Overall, I thought they were there for the taking. I thought we were comfortable, and looked sharp in possession and there were some passages of nice play. They barely laid a glove on us other than a couple of half chances. The biggest issue up until the changes was Ayew, he simply can’t play in these kind of games, especially not as a striker. No one was occupying those Coventry defenders today, they were allowed to just strike the ball around nonchalantly without any pressure.

Ayew was dropping far too deep, and we had nothing to work with through the middle other than James, who I thought was excellent today, and exactly what we’ve been missing…

Then came the clanger, Marti’s subs. They were diabolical, completely killed any forward momentum.

At that point Coventry were at their most vulnerable for me, we were getting balls in behind, and we were starting to break through their midfield. He then takes off James, who has been the best player on the pitch for me, and doesn’t bring on Daka? When you’re starting to really stretch that back line. It completely handed the game to Coventry, and it became very comfortably for them. We took away any of the energy in the middle of the pitch and then just had Ayew slowing the game down again as usual and there was no momentum at all towards the final ten minutes or so.

Having said all of that, the performance was more together. The defence was much better and looked fairly untroubled bar one or two half chances.

Today came down to poor decisions from Marti, it’s the first time I have thought that he got it wrong, because in my opinion they were there for the taking, I wasn’t impressed with them at all and some better calls from Marti, we would have won that game.

He’s got to play James and Winks together, and he’s got to drop Ayew and try something else, even if it’s Bobby in that position or as part of a midfield three. And look to play Daka from the off so we can occupy defenders more.

You’re never ever going to score goals when you’ve got Ayew stood in his own half scrapping for balls.

So overall, not happy with today, not because we were poor, more because we should have won that if it wasn’t for some poor decisions from the manager.

Edit for @Dahnsouff Mavididi was ****ing disgusting.

Well we have Carranza now, and our output from the wingers is high and now JJ is here, who knows. :dunno:

Genuine question. Who is going to score the goals for us?

Rudkin masterclass of a squad, left us with no decent CF, Ayew seems more suited as a 10 than a 9.  Daka not good enough. :(

How on Earth can you critique that performance and not mention Stephy?

Things happened when they passed the ball

quickly to Winks. The Enzo ball doesn’t work with Ayew or Soumare in the middle.

hopefully they can get JJ on the ball which will allow Fatawu and Ricardo to get into space.  It’s so frustrating as we have half a team that are more than capable of punishing a team, but it all seems to laboured and overplayed.
