No money to sack him

I don't quite get that. No money to sack managers, no money to release the wannabe footballers, no money, no money. If Top is skint or whatever under PSR there are ways to run the club, be brave and rebuild. What's the point appointing quite expensive managers? We're stuck in a circle of doom and need drastic changes.

Sack them all and hire some scouts within the fan base. Some of us 2 decades ago were spending our free time doing scouting and rating for CM/FM. Just bring passionate people in the club in every position. I know this sounds a bit unprofessional nowadays but sometimes you need to go back into the roots and try to climb up again.

The board has lost all connection with the dedicated fan base.

I can’t believe people are actually saying they would take/want Rodgers back.

This is beyond mental.

Under no circumstances should this ever be considered. It shouldn’t even be joked about.

I think it's more that people are waking up to the fact that Aiyawatt and Rudkin are (and always have been) the problem.

Rodgers is undoubtedly a tosser so I wouldn't exactly be happy with having him back but we know he's a very good manager and I doubt we could get a similarly talented manager through the door.

But nothing is worth doing until Aiyawatt and Rudkin go.

Is he though?

I think that his record proves that he starts well at clubs (some could say taking over from others) and it sours pretty quickly.

The squad that Puel/Macia were putting together was going to perform at a very good level, whoever was in charge IMO.

I think it sours because he's a twat more than him not being a good manager.

You could argue we are undergoing drastic changes

What if this business plan fails?
Top and his associates aren’t skint but he has to comply with PSR requirements….

Question 2 needs answering.

Agree to disagree.

Emery, Iraola and Glasner are coaches that would have been obtainable when paying Rodgers his obscene wages.

I’d consider them better coaches and less hideous human beings.

I get the thinking, but not being a twat is central to good management.

He's a terrible manager. He consistently leaves clubs in a worse position.

Good coach, he should take up national team coaching where he just works with a finite number of players and can't get his grimey hands on the finances.

Players only have to see him a few times a year as well so wouldn't be able to suck the life out of them.

I don't think you could say he's a terrible manager when you look at his record.

Like him or loathe him (I don't really think anyone likes him) but he gets results.

I agree he'd be better as a national team manager though. He shouldn't be anywhere near finances or transfers.

Ordinary management, yes.

But I think pretty much every top football manager is a twat.

I think you could look at Rodgers as the antithesis of a builder like Pearson.

I think Rodgers gets bored after about 18 months anywhere.
A few months before that he’ll play Rodgers bingo - blame the players, fans, owners, fixture congestion, the weather - those hot October games, lack of recruitment, and bizarre press conferences.
His shelf life anywhere should be 2 seasons minimum. No way he joins anyone facing relegation like Wolves or West Ham.
More likely a comfortable mid table side like Palace or Fulham.

I assumed people were joking and don't think they are.

His performance in 2022/23 was as bad as anything I've seen relative to what he had. Van Nistelrooy maybe pushed it close although had a crap squad.

To take that squad down was barely believable.

He will get in somewhere that are on the up. Though do wonder if clubs are smart enough to see through it now.

Probably just a semantics thing from me there to be fair mate.

A head coach i'd say just works with what they're given by the club. Whereas a manager will oversee a lot more of the football side. In Brendan's case he seems to see himself as a manager, and outside of the coaching stuff, I think he's horrific.

It sounds like we're roughly in agreement haha.

I think he'd take someone like Fulham into Europe and a side like West Ham into League 1.

He needs the team to be ready built for him and by the time he leaves it'll be a pile of rubble but he will get results.

Maybe with a top quality DOF with a set ethos and style he could leave a club in good shape.

He also seems to get considerably worse after 2 years at a gig, working with the man for longer than that must be brutal.

The more I think about it, the more i'm convinced he'd do very well at international football.

It's a pretty pivotal 4 days for his career you feel.

For his Leicester career, for sure.

But I don't think many people will put too much emphasis on failing here. We're a basket case of a club and he hasn't spent a penny. I suspect he'd get another job at this level.

That’s why I think he could end up at Palace. Say they finish top 10 and Glasner goes in the summer as he’s out of contract then I could see Rodgers ending up there.
Glasner will have done all the hard work and Rodgers would just carry it on.

But not at a club anywhere near the size of us.

I think we’d have to lose all 3 for the board to even think about it. Even then I don’t think they would.

Also remember we like to sack the game AFTER an international break ;)
